McDonald’s to temporarily close 850 stores in Russia

I'm surprised they are continuing to pay both their Russian AND Ukraine employees. That's something I wouldn't have expected to see. That's admirable.

In Russia, the national monthly minimum wage is equal to $156.40/month, as of 2020. So it's not like McDonald's is paying a lot in salaries anyway. (And let's be honest: They're really buying PR with this stunt. The fact that you find them "admirable" proves my point.)

Do you remember 20-25 years ago when Russians dreamed of being just like Americans?

Hard to believe low, it is almost like remembering how the Turks wanted to be like Western Europeans.

Nope, Turks never wanted to be someone else. After the Ottoman, the Western backed appointed pro western govts imposed "to be like a westerner" on the Turkish people, Turkish education system and lifestyle have been changed in this way by coercion, even our alphabet was changed and our ties to our own history have been completely severed.
