McChrystal

ID, that's how the military is supposed to work. For a 4-Star to publicly trash the CIC, it is no different than for a Major to publicly trash his commanding Colonel, or a Sergeant to publicly trash his Chief. In those cases, there would be hell to pay, just as there could be for the General.

You read the article...he hardly "trashed" anyone. He did what was called for after the fact; tendered his resignation...it was Obama's unneccesary style in his statement I object to.

MacArthur was removed by Truman at the height of the Korean War, mind you he did want to attack Manchuria with nuclear weapons. Of course, he wasn't the only one who advocated this policy.

McArthur was canned under similar highly odiferous circumstances. Of Truman's military advisors and the JCS, that VAST majority stated McArthur's letter (which had nothing to do with advocating use of nucs) was not significant enough to warrant dismissal for insubordination. But, like Obama, Truman's ego was too big, so a needed successful leader was lost to politicians ego.

Mac was repeatedly insubordinate, ignoring letters sent to him from Truman. Of this Truman said:

I decided it was time that we do so. The damn fool hadn't been back in the United States for fourteen years or more, and the messages I'd sent him through other people he somehow or another never seemed to understand.
