Allure Catches Hell For Teaching White Women How To Get An Afro

Once again, cultural appropriation is igniting a flurry of controversy -- and for the umpteenth time, the case relates to black women's hair.

Allure magazine finds itself in the middle of a stormy response to a hair tutorial published in its August 2015 issue titled, "You (Yes, You) Can Have An Afro.*" The asterisk reads: "even if you have straight hair."

Teen Vogue Under Fire For Featuring 'White Model' In Senegalese Twists Story

Cultural appropriation has become quite a hot topic in the fashion world as of late, and not even Teen Vogue can escape it.

Goalpost moving once, again.

I am a hard left progressive who thinks Juneteenth is ebonic-sounding and thus stupid.

You're an obnoxious ass, but we occasionally agree.

Like on this subject for example.

This is just more ridiculous, pandering bullshit.

The only people who are oppressing black people today are other black people.

The white proggies who support and justify this kind of silliness are just as much a part of the division in this country today as the most rabid Trumptards.

I'm not familiar with the term. People who converse on my level don't seem to use it, and Google didn't help. Sorry.

If you conversed on any intelligent level, you'd be familiar with it.

You can’t find it on Google,, that’s just sad, you aren’t very good at research.

The term applies to most, if not all progressives.

The woker the priggier.

I would get rid of all the commemorative and religious holidays and have one universal long weekend, paid, for everybody each month.

Some people would really miss Christmas, I suppose, but we're not a theocracy, and true separation of church and state demands it.

People celebrate Christmas without government involvement thus creating no church-state issue.

history is littered with miserable shit stains like you that would force your views on the rest - like telling us which holidays are worth observing and which aren't

the thing though - is for you to be a pragmatic authoritarian - you need to stop being a retarded little shit. nobody will ever follow you, unless it was to a dark alley to beat you up

The only thing that would make that more offensive would be for a giant piece of watermelon to be next to it!

What's offensive about it? Do you find ethnic hair and hair styles offensive? Why don't you read about why it's not offensive at all?

Two-story Black power hair pick, symbol of African identity, erected near Gallier Hall

How boring. I like diversity myself.

Why is it offensive to you?
[FONT="]“This sculpture is very fitting for this time and place," a Cantrell administration spokesperson wrote, when asked via email about the Thomas artwork. "As we celebrate the freedoms that we have gained this Juneteenth, we know that it does not come without struggles, without fights and without protests for more than 200 years. The fight and struggle for equality, respect and freedom continue to this day for those of us who continue to be discriminated against because of the color of our skin and the texture and style of our hair.”

The very ignorant people in your article didn’t even bother, like you, to educate their racists ass on the sculpture’s meaning.

I agree......it is a fitting monument to lib'rul stupidity
