Max Blumenthal (Alternet/Daily Beast) goes after Russiaphobe Rep. Rankin of Md.

Of course, since WaPo reported that French Intel claimed it never happened, we should wait for a credible source to quote the French, before automatically assuming the interview actually happened. :D

Regarding the OP, the Congressman was operating under the assumption that Russia hacked the US election. Naturally, if that were the case, they would probably have hacked the French election, as well...

or we can join forces w/Russia &maybe locals for expanding cease fires, and help lead to the end of the war.

work w/RUSSIA???!!!! OMG

We don't even have to work with Russia---just drop our support for the rebels. Why are we essentially fighting a proxy war in Syria when 'victory' means a Syria over run with Islamists?

It's insane. We have no business being there unless we have a clear shot at ISIS. And ISIS is largely cleared out, thanks in part to Russia. Syrian refugees have started to return---even to Aleppo, because they were fleeing ISIS and not Assad.

"Max Blumenthal: The Washington Post has reported that the French Cyber Intelligence Agency has said that it's not true."

Are you saying this is NOT "fake news"?
are you illiterate?
that is part of the interview -said by Blumenthal in regards/response to Russian hacking of the French election!
Jamie Raskin: But in France, they hacked and trashed Macron. In a bid to elect the right-wing, immigrant-bashing, Marine Le Pen.

It didn't matter to Raskin even after it was shown Russia didn't hack the French.
Raskin doesn't let facts get in the way of his Russiaphobia

yes. ISIS is our business -regime change is not,
Further Assad seems to be the least horrible of the alternatives, and supporting rebels in Syria is tricky business

By western standards Assad is a Baathist despot but there is a 'not insignificant minority' of Syrians who like the guy. Why does he have to be our problem? Particularly, if he can bring stability to the region. And you're right: Assad is the best alternative---by a long shot.

yep. first off Syria is a long time Russian client state, so them taking the lead is fine by me.

"assad must go"was part of the Obama doctrine..Nicky Haley ( current UN ambassador) talks uber-hawk stuff
so I don't know how wedded we are to that concept under Trump

Which is why things like the joint cease fire w/Russia and Jordan are so important. build on that.

Stay out of the regime change business -it always blows back, and work towards cease of hostilitys
no matter if Russia takes the lead. quit sending arms to "rebels"
