He had a couple gay dating apps on his phone. He was probably gay but it's not certain. For all we know he could have used the gay apps to hunt down individual gays but decided to go Big Time Jihad instead.

But it's a fact the FBI was watching him and it wasn't because he was a probable gay Muslim. Ocamms says he got radicalized online but failed to send up any red flags that would get him pinged by the Feds. It's a safe wager who ever was instructing him was telling him how to not send up any.

The most likely explanation is Omar Mateen was an ISIS sympathizer with gay issues. This Islamist picked gays as a target, the next one will pick another. Not if, but when.

There seems to be more evidence of his being a closeted gay man, his wife believes he was and several people have stated that he was a regular at Pulse. It isn't an agenda, it seems to be the truth. There were a couple of men he contacted on a gay app called Jack'd. He was a Muslim gay man and it did not match up with the way he was raised and as a result he was angry. He probably believed that if he shot up a gay club as an Daesh fighter that Allah would forgive him his trespasses.

It is not hard to believe that he was a self loathing gay man who used radicalized sites to fuel his hate and to plot this massacre. Why does it have to be one or the other? He hated the fact that he was gay because his father loathed gay people and his religion said it was sinful. What an awful position to be in in life. There are instances of this all the time in our societies. My neighbor was gay and beat his gay partner, he eventually took his own life, his pardner told me he was angry about being gay, self medicated with alcohol and could never reconcile the fact with the way society treated gay men. The rejection was just too much for him.
