I think big money isn't taking into account the stress inducement in such a situation and that an all black gun with an orange tip is going to be hard to see at that distance and less noticeable under stress of the situation.

I think I touched later upon that, you are correct under high pressure, that detail is not going to be noted at the range this happened, perhaps not even in arms length. Also I pointed out out in a later post that anyone could paint the Flash hider/muzzle brake orange, and that indeed, with those facts, you have the rest of your life to win a gun fight.

This was a very real threat and they acted appropriately here. as you said it was "suicide by cop" I agree with you sir. the cops in this case should not have bet their life on the possibility of it being real or not.
