Unfortunately, the grid is down for you atm because there wasn't enough solar power generated to fuel it. You can't simply plug your battery charger into an outlet to charge the battery. What now?

Agreed. However, with the current tech, wind and solar won't be enough to supply the needs of the present nation much less a growing one.

When "conserving electricity" and rolling brownouts are occurring, that's an indication of a problem. How many airline passengers would feel comfortable if the Captain announces "We'll be shutting down one engine and the A/C to save fuel"?
