Many federal workers out-earn private sector labor

Ok? It's nice that government work doesnt mean bad hours dealing with irritable people in lousy situations for bad pay. It just means bad hours dealing with irritable people in lousy situations for decent pay, you ever been to the DMV? Imagine working their all day...
 
and people wonder why our government has gotten us in so much debt....

governments cannot produce, they only consume. when they make more than the private sector, our economy is completely fucked.
 
It's didn't use to be that way, the private sector used to make about 20% more.

We have morphed to them increasing budgets automatically and not suffering any risk when the economy tanks.

give me a break. imagine working at a fast food joint all day. i've been to the DMV numerous times over my life and i would pick that over fast food.

the reason i posted this is because i've posted other studies that said the same thing, however, some libs on here always cry that it isn't true. maybe it is, maybe isn't...but this is a study from the government. i wonder if they will bash this source.

i'm not sure i support our tax dollars paying people more just because they work for the federal government.

the difference is that McDonalds fires it's employees if they don't smile at the customers, because they know people could always go to Burger King......the government only fires workers if they're found dead on the job......

Did you even read the article? The report shows that low level positions pay more but that skilled and professional jobs that require advanced education pay substantially less. I know my Government employed colleagues in the hazmat field make substantially less then I do. They view that as a compromise worth making, in general, for more opportunities to specialize, job security and more flexibility in their home lives.

As for them paying unskilled labor a little more? Whoop de fucking do! I mean so you seriously want to have everyone making minimum wage? Is our nation better off if working people get paid nothing?

are you claiming that to pay them the same as the private sector would be minimum wage?

why should they get more money simply because they work for the federal government?

Stay on topic? No, don't you change the topic. The topic is the OP which you apparently did not read. If you think that some schmuck pushing a broom at a Federal facility who makes 16% more then minimum wage is going to break the bank then your nuts while you're completely failing to address the fact that Government jobs that requir advanced skills or advanced education are paid substantially less then their private sector counter parts. I don't hear you bitching about that being unfair?

i did read it and i have addressed that specific issue several times in the past. you are the one IGNORING the topic and trying to pull a red herring. further, you're not being entirely forthright regarding advanced skills/education. as i've stated before, those with advanced training/education often CHOOSE to work for the government due to job security and benefits. the article even mentions the benefit:

additionally, those workers are but a small percentage of the government workforce. the reason i don't talk about it and believe it is a red herring is, by and large, they CHOOSE to work for the government in return for job security and benefits. i have numerous class colleagues they choose to work for the government for that very reason. you also, generally, have less stress and shorter work days than your private counter parts.

you really don't have a clue about the professional world.

i never said it would break the bank. if you want to build strawman, get together with dung and have hayday....

i notice you failed to answer my question. why is that?

it isn't 16%, there is a 21%....and according to mott, that is substantial. further, mott tries to make this only about "schmucks" (his word) pushing brooms, however, this is far from the truth. it lists college grads as well and you know as well as i they make up the bulk.

Lower-skill workers with a high school diploma or less fare significantly better as government workers than they would in comparable private sector jobs, with 21 percent higher wages and far better health and pension benefits.
