Manchin to vote no on Dems' Roe v. Wade bill, saying it goes too far

To me, that would be the reasonable, rational thing to do. The bill we have today to vote on, Women's Health Protection Act … make no mistake, it is not Roe v. Wade codification, it is an expansion. It wipes 500--500 state laws off the books. It expands abortion."

Manchin lamented that the bill that he and his colleagues will be voting on goes too far on an issue that is "extremely political" and divisive.

"We should not be dividing this country further than we're already divided," he said. "And it's really the politics of Congress that's dividing the country. It's not the people. They're telling us what they want. And it's just disappointing that we're going to be voting on a piece of legislation which I will not vote for today. But I would vote for Roe v. Wade codification if it was today, I was hopeful for that. But I found out yesterday in caucus that wasn't going to be."

Dems are never satisfied to just write a decent bill.
It's always Progressive or radical overreach

The legislation never was going to pass regardless of what was in, Schumer knows this, the only intent is to have each Senator on record that they voted against it, which they’ll use in the elections in purple elections, voters never take the time to read the legislation

Voting against it won’t hurt Manchin in WV, makes sense, most likely he told Schumer previously

West Virginia needs to do a better job at discouraging teen pregnancy. I suspect teen pregnancy is much higher in West Virginia than in the People's Republics of Massachusetts and Vermont.

The reality is, whether it's Republicans or Democrats, the abortion bills they craft are never intended to actually pass. They know the bills that won't pass best play to the base and that's what this is all about.

What I love most is that Manchin just keeps screwing leftists up the ass. Hilarious.

a simple bill that mirrors Roe V Wade might very well pass
Why not offer up a clean bill?

Along with oxy, meth and fentanyl use and the high level of "disabilities"

Again showing we are more alike than different. Democrats loved McCain and called him a maverick (and mocked Republicans who called him a RINO) when he bucked the Republicans. But now that the shoe is on the other foot I don’t see the media and liberals calling Manchin a maverick. Funny but predictable.

He'll get slammed by Dems, but I don't blame him. His constituency is pretty conservative.
Nobody expects Manchin to ever caucus with Democrats. This is nothing more than an official record of everyone's position on abortion.

Thus far, Manchin can never 'get there' on anything in Biden's agenda
