Manchin lamented that the bill that he and his colleagues will be voting on goes too far on an issue that is "extremely political" and divisive.

Dems are never satisfied to just write a decent bill.
It's always Progressive or radical overreach
 
The legislation never was going to pass regardless of what was in, Schumer knows this, the only intent is to have each Senator on record that they voted against it, which they’ll use in the elections in purple elections, voters never take the time to read the legislation

Voting against it won’t hurt Manchin in WV, makes sense, most likely he told Schumer previously
 
West Virginia needs to do a better job at discouraging teen pregnancy. I suspect teen pregnancy is much higher in West Virginia than in the People's Republics of Massachusetts and Vermont.
 
The reality is, whether it's Republicans or Democrats, the abortion bills they craft are never intended to actually pass. They know the bills that won't pass best play to the base and that's what this is all about.

Again showing we are more alike than different. Democrats loved McCain and called him a maverick (and mocked Republicans who called him a RINO) when he bucked the Republicans. But now that the shoe is on the other foot I don’t see the media and liberals calling Manchin a maverick. Funny but predictable.

Nobody expects Manchin to ever caucus with Democrats. This is nothing more than an official record of everyone's position on abortion.

Thus far, Manchin can never 'get there' on anything in Biden's agenda
