Piling on Trump on this is as cowardly as shooting pickles from a barrel.
The harm is mainly ceremonial. It was an important anniversary, and important event.
Reportedly over 80 world leaders were able to attend. But the president of the United States can't?
It is standard white house practice to have plan-B, plan-C, plan-D for such contingencies.
So one of two things is true.
1) Either the Trump white house is so inept, they failed collectively to execute correctly on this, or
2) Trump simply didn't want to attend, and made an unpersuasive excuse.
I might forgive Trump this one transgression, if it weren't emblematic of his tenure as president, and decades of history before the inauguration. The truth is, Trump lacks presidential demeanor. Sad.
