You couldn't find Crimea on a map. Well, you couldn't find Russia on a map. This bridge only affects Crimea and really only affects road traffic. Shipping can still move there freely. The rail line bridge was unaffected.

What Ukraine did was damage one span of the bridge, nothing more. 90%+ of the frontage of that war is totally unaffected by this action.

I suppose now you'll whine about how I'm for Russia or some other idiotic nonsense. I, unlike you, don't have a side in that war. I could careless who wins or loses. It won't change anything as far as I'm concerned.

I saw a report that the Russians expect to have repairs done in a few weeks....we shall see...the last time was over six months.

The quick way would be to just use a military bridge over the damaged span until it can be removed and replaced.


That's what's called a "Triple Bailey." Note how there are three layers on the sides to take more weight.

I am not sure that there is any hurry....I have not seen a report about how much a problem the reduced capacity is....for instance though apparently the part of the road that is still open can take the required weights we dont actually know this for sure.

BUT....the Russians now have experience doing repairs on this bridge, and they might have stockpiled supplies....it is not outside possibility that it will only be weeks.
 
Yesterday Scott Ritter said that Ukraine could take out the whole thing for good and it would not effect this special military operation other than making things more difficult for Russa, it would not impact the outcome at all.....this is more symbolic. The Ukrainians are doing whatever they can to get this escalated because they are withering....without more NATO support they lose for sure.....they need more and better arms and more meat for the meat grinder.
