Low cost solution to landmine clearance

Nice idea! I watched a program about using trained rats to clear minefields with their handler. It was cheap and effective...just like using dogs to sniff out termites or drugs or explosives is cost effective and works great. Good low cost solutions.
 
Forgive my nitpicking but it seems that a wind powered device would be somewhat random (possibly leaving unexploded mines behind.

What would be so hard about using a GPS controlled device to completely clear a field of all danger?

That would be an improvement and it would add to the cost...I thought about the randomness as well.

The whole point is that it is very cheap so you can build a few and use them over a few days as the wind changes.

I have heard of Messines and I even been there, but didn't know that there was one that never exploded. I wonder if you know about the American cargo ship USS Richard Montgomery, which sunk 2km off Sheerness in Kent and has 13,700 explosive devices on board?
