losing dem majority in 2010

I will not be surprized if you are one that will go all Murrah building on us.
There is no reason for all law abiding citizens to fear registering their guns. I mean when was the last time that a government made their people do that and something bad happened?

I'll save this post for the cops.
You are one of the sheep Desh. You are so afraid of guns, that you ignore that the overwhelming majority are never used for purposes of committing ANY crime. Guns are bad mmmm'kay, we have to register all the guns so they won't be bad, mmmm'kay?

What I don't think you realized is that it won't just be crazy redneck right wingers that join militias. Both myself and my best friend voted for Obama, we both own about 40 guns between the two of us. I go to the range at least 3 times per month to fire my weapons. They are mine and there is NO reason to register them. If this passes, people like me, that normally don't associate on any social level with the type of people that typically join militias will. I will. I will not register any of my firearms, I don't care what the law says. And if someone tries to take my gun from me, like STY, I will meet them with deadly force, and if I have to die in the process, so be it. This is no less a civil liberties issue that freedom of speech, or right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures. You people that think this will make you safer are much more ignorant than I would ever have imagined.

Pittsburgh Killer Richard Poplawski Used Glenn Beck Videos

This last comment was a reference to popular right-wing conspiracy theories about Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)-constructed prisons and concentration camps for U.S. citizens.

Such conspiracy theories had long been staples of the militia movement, but received a reinvigorating shot in the arm following the election of Barack Obama as president. Almost overnight, right-wing conspiracists across the country revived all of their 1990s militia conspiracy theories about the “New World Order,” planned gun confiscations, and government plots against the citizenry. Once more, wild speculations about SHTF (“s—t hits the fan”) and TEOTWAKI (“the end of the world as we know it”) scenarios became rampant.

Poplawski bought into the SHTF/TEOTWAKI conspiracy theories hook, line and sinker, even posting a link to Stormfront of a YouTube video featuring talk show host Glenn Beck talking about FEMA camps with Congressman Ron Paul.

We'll be glad to kill you Soc. :)

I think we should pass this legislation for no other reason than to incite these gun nut militants to do something really stupid so we can lock them up or kill them outright and get them off the political scene forever.

and then Barack Obama can join the world leaders who have killed millions of his own citizens. wouldn't THAT be a wonderful feather in his cap

Excerpted from The Right to Arms
by
Edward Abbey

In medieval England a peasant caught with a sword in his possession would be strung up on a gibbet and left there for the crows. Swords were for gentlemen only. (Gentlemen!) Only members of the ruling class were entitled to own and bear weapons. For obvious reasons. Even bows and arrows were outlawed--see Robin Hood. When the peasants attempted to rebel, as they did in England and Germany and other European countries from time to time, they had to fight with sickles, bog hoes, clubs--no match for the sword-wielding armored cavalry of the nobility.

In Nazi Germany the possession of firearms by a private citizen of the Third Reich was considered a crime against the state; the statutory penalty was death--by hanging. Or beheading. In the Soviet Union, as in Czarist Russia, the manufacture, distribution, and ownership of firearms have always been monopolies of the state, strictly controlled and supervised. Any unauthorized citizen found with guns in his home by the OGPU or the KGB is automatically suspected of subversive intentions and subject to severe penalties. Except for the landowning aristocracy, who alone among the population were allowed the privilege of owning firearms, for only they were privileged to hunt, the ownership of weapons never did become a widespread tradition in Russia. And Russia has always been an autocracy--or at best, as today, an oligarchy.

There must be a meaning in this. I don't think I'm a gun fanatic. I own a couple of small-caliber weapons, but seldom take them off the wall. I gave up deer hunting fifteen years ago, when the hunters began to outnumber the deer. I am a member of the National Rifle Association, but certainly no John Bircher. I'm a liberal--and proud of it. Nevertheless, I am opposed, absolutely, to every move the state makes to restrict my right to buy, own, possess, and carry a firearm. Whether shotgun, rifle, or handgun.

The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state-controlled police and military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy. Not for nothing was the revolver called an "equalizer." Egalite implies liberte. And always will. Let us hope our weapons are never needed--but do not forget what the common people of this nation knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny.

If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rules. Only the government--and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws.

RIP Edward Abbey, a true American Liberal.

the anti gun people are so fanatical they can't even see their own tyrannical rantings...whether you like or not...etc..

its people like dnc, ibenotwise...that cause harm to this country. their hatred and fear is palpable that it effects those around them. instead of rational disucssion, they are fanatical...its almost as if they seek to harm their cause more than help it.

perhaps the troll DNC really supports gun rights and is using this troll name to make people fight harder for gun rights...

why? do you think we should be ashamed or afraid to defend the constitution?

i'm not, why are you?
What I find so amusing is that they don't see how this issue brings people of opposing political views together. You and I disagree probably more than we have ever agreed. But this issue makes us allies. This issue was championed by Edward Abbey, a man who was a champion of environmentalism, an atheist (or as he put it an earthiest.)

This issue will bring center leftists like myself out of the woodwork, I will become a member of the NRA again. I will donate my hard earned money to vote out ANY member of congress that votes for this. I am NOT a gun nut. I hunt, and I like to shoot targets because the army made me really good at it. But like politicians that vote to put abortion rights to an end, I despise gun fraidy cats. I will spend money and time to kick them out of office.

Abbey hunted during the early years in his life. He stopped later in life, but the writings on guns, he never disavowed.

He'd be killing domestic terrorists, which I support.

i'm willing to bet my life that once the body count hits a couple hundred, people not originally intent on fighting the government will consider it. it would literally be political suicide for the government to exterminate that many people.
