Precious metals are fiat, because only governments have and ever will use them. When society breaks down, people do not use precious metals as a medium of exchange. Unless you can name a government that is issuing cryptocurrency, then Bitcoin is not fiat. In fact, South Korea actually banned cryptocurrency.
