YouGov poll of Conservative members have electrified the leadership race as it emerged Trade Minister Ms Mordaunt is set to beat every candidate in the run off by at least 18 points. Ms Mordaunt would beat Mr Sunak with 67 percent of Tory Party members taking her side, versus 28 percent siding with the former Chancellor. In a shock twist, Mr Sunak would lose to almost every rival in a head-to-head run-off, the survey of more than 800 party members found. The poll also found that there were only two candidates Mr Sunak would beat in a two-way contest: Jeremy Hunt, the former Foreign Secretary, and Suella Braverman, the Attorney General.

It leaves Rishi Sunak, Liz Truss, Penny Mordaunt, Tom Tugendhat, Kemi Badenoch and Suella Braverman still in the running to replace Boris Johnson.
