Looks like Gorsuch will be confirmed

I repeat, this has nothing to do with the Constitution .. even as outdated as it is.

This is political warfare .. great for the country and the Constitution .. even as outdated as it is.

the constitution is not outdated, except for those that don't agree with individual freedom and liberty. which makes for about 92% of the population.

I believe that a President should get their nominees.

I will disagree on this. letting, or allowing, a single man to 'get' their nominees is ignoring the will of the states. If one looks at the way the nomination, or the consent process, is set up, it's designed specifically to ensure that justices that remove powers belonging to the states are not put on the USSC Bench.

I guess you missed an entire year where conservatives said that Scalia HAD to be replaced w/ a conservative, because he was such an icon. As though the founders ever intended the SCOTUS nomination process to work that way.

You have blinders on, constantly.

conservatives don't actually believe in that represesnation bullshit, we just exploited it for our own gains. Liberals actually believe the supreme court should be a paddy cake club

Gorsuch should be confirmed, he is going to be a net gain for liberals as he is not as Conservative as Scalia was.

The Democrats need to save their fire power in case someone like Ginsberg dies in the next two and a half years.

What firepower? If they had any.....Clinton would be selecting the next SCOTUS seat. :whoa:

The good news, even if they go with the Nuclear Option, the Supreme Court will be moving LEFT because Gorsush is not anywhere as conservative as Scalia was.

That's why it's obvious dims are being unreasonable about Gorsuch.

To me, it's clearly a reaction to what happened w/ Garland. They have to forget about that & take the high road.

They're not going to get a less conservative judge out of this; it might even be a lot worse. And they'll lose political points. They have to pick their battles better than this.

And just like the GOP, they might regret it down the line, in a few different ways. It's not good common sense.

Grind is one of the internets most beloved and influential political thinkers and deep-level theorists in the modern era.

That shit cracks me up every time I read it. ;0) Thanks

IF republicans are still I control of the Senate, what guarantees would democrats have that republicans won't use the nuclear option on subsequent SC appointments? How about NONE?

believe it or not, both sides don't want to use the nuke option. Otherwise it would have been used before. The thing is, no one wants to set that precedent. Everytime the party in power has had the opportunity, they've declined because they knew power doesn't last forever and they would know that one day they'll be on the wrong side of it. Both sides like the idea that a broader consensus might be needed to confirm a judge.

Then after he's voted in, you wont have any objections to his decisions?

Wow, a leftist who feels the Constitution is outdated. What a rarity!

Agreed it's political warfare. Not sure why it's great for the country. See this post I just made: https://www.justplainpolitics.com/s...ump-Associates-in-Intel&p=1872269#post1872269

I read your other post .. couldn't disagree with you more.

You failed to mention that republicans started this. Now it's war. What do you expect democrats to do .. just sit there and take it without responding?

I believe this is great for the country because it exposes the warts, it exposes that America is not the country it pretends to be.

Republicans spent 8 years trashing Obamacare only to have that blow up in their faces. Perhaps the republican constituency will now rethink, or think for the first time about what the real responsibility of government is. Obviously many are already thinking differently about healthcare. Independents are most certainly thinking about it.

It's great for the nation because it draws America's inherent racism out into the light, where it can be challenged more effectively. No more pretense that it doesn't exist or that its some minor issue.

It's great for the country because we no longer have to listen to the idiocy that government should be run by non-politicians .. remarkably ignorant concept. No one need listen to that bullshit ever again.

It's great for the country because republicans are getting a taste of their own medicine .. and they don't like it. Maybe they'll consider that the next time a democrat is in office.

It's great for the country because I want Trump to try any and every knuckleheaded RW idea, concept, and thought about how to run government .. where he will fail.

I could go on .. but I'm tickled pink :0) about where this nation stands today. We deserve every moment of a clown like Donald Trump .. an embarrassing testament to the fickle nature of the American people and the idiotic thinking of those who elected him.

No. What our confirmation process is nothing like the Founders envisioned. It has descended to this since Bork

But you never have criticism for the left when it comes to these shenanigans.

I however have always been consistent. I believe that a President should get their nominees. I think Merrick should have gotten an up and down vote. But that is the game that the democrat party started with Bork.

Now you can suck it

Bork deserved no consideration idiot

I absolutely agree with you brother.

Thus, Senate republicans will have their backs against the wall trying to invoke it.
