The shocking moment a Dunkin' Donuts customer 'pistol whipped employee because he gave his wife wrong FLAVOR ice coffee'
The wife of the alleged attacker screamed 'shoot him, shoot him' as diners looked on at the terrifying incident, which was caught on CCTV.
It began after Jeffrey Wright, 27, and his wife Alexis Longo, 22, went through the drive-thru section of the Dunkin' Donuts branch in Lauderhill, Florida.
After discovering they had vanilla in an iced coffee and not caramel they parked up and went into the restaurant.
Police said they wanted to complain to the manger but before he arrived an argument broke out between the couple and Rajay Hall, 19, who took the order.
Longo tried to hit the employee but when he backed away her husband jumped in and a melee broke out near the front door. Other customers attempted to break up the fight, the video shows.
It was in the middle of the pushing and shoving that Wright allegedly pulled out a 9mm handgun and began to pistol-whip the employee over the head.
Mr Hall said he heard Longo telling her husband to shoot him. He said he had no idea why Longo lunged at him, but said: 'You're not talking to me like I'm a dog. If [Longo had] told me it needed more sugar, it wouldn't have elevated to that point.'
Mr Hall said he wasn't hurt during the fracas and was unaware that Wright had been pistol-whipping him until after the fight. 'I didn't even realise he was hitting me with the gun. I thought he was just hitting me with his fist and I was just punching him back,' Hall said.
Wright works as a security guard and carries a concealed weapons permit according to an assistant public defender.
The surveillance video shows Wright throw the first punch and, as the melee moves further into the store, the group knocks down a poster display. Wright then grabs his gun and brings it down it on Mr Hall's head.
A member of staff called police who, after reviewing the security footage, arrested Wright and his wife.
During their first court appearance Judge John Hurley said: 'During the course of the altercation, it says you retrieved your firearm, a 9mm Taurus handgun with seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. 'This all happened in front of the customers at Dunkin' Donuts.'
Wright was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and Longo was charged with simple battery. He was ordered held on a $20,000 bond; she was held on a $1,000 bond.
