While I know it must be difficult to accept the reality that Obama is losing his bid for reelection, and some of you clearly don't want to face that realization at this time, it's important for you to begin the process of preparing your minds for what is coming on November 6th. I see evidence of this from posters like Jughead, who has somewhat resigned himself to the "what if" should Obama lose this election. Not to mention Obama's almost unnoticed fupa in the most recent debate: "When I was president..." But I really do worry for some of you, who seem to be totally oblivious to what's heading your way. Such an unexpected jolt on election night, might not be good for your mental state. It could lead to depression or worse, some irrational act you will live to regret. So it's best for you to start preparing yourself now, while your mind has time to get used to the idea. Just in case, mind you.
One thing I would like to point out, which might help you cope, is this... You were all happier when Bush was president and you had a target for your angst and rage. Now, granted, you were elated to see Republicans lose to Obama, and it was a glorious victory for sure, but be honest, it has been a constant struggle for you to defend him the past 4 years. Especially when he has gone back on his word so many times, with so many promises and assurances he gave you before he was elected. It must have been difficult for you to face the boards after he admitted he couldn't close Gitmo, or there were no shovel ready jobs. Pot head libs must have really hated it when he sent his US Attorneys out there to wreak havoc on medical marijuana dispensaries. And even his proponents on health care, have to be disappointed that he didn't decrease health care insurance costs by $2,500, but rather, increased them by that much, after all the promises and assurances. Those who clamored for an end to the wars, have to be tired of defending his expansion of the Bush Doctrine to three other middle-eastern countries, and the fact that 2/3rds of the deaths in Afghanistan have come under Obama's watch. Even the more moderate democrats who screamed about Bush's massive spending, have to be getting tired of defending Obama's even worse spending.
Let's face it, Libs, the last 4 years have been no picnic for you. Constantly being pounded for your hypocrisy, continuously reminded of the rhetoric which hasn't transpired into action, and having to be on the defensive nearly every single day... it's not been any fun at all to be a liberal, has it? Couple this with the fact that you lost the House to the Republicans, and haven't been able to get anything done legislatively, I can imagine the frustration most of you are probably feeling. You look around and see no economic prosperity happening, no jobs being created, the economy in shambles, prices skyrocketing out of control, and what can you say about it? It's not like you can complain much, it's your guy's policies in place, so all you can do is continue to dance around and try to play it off and pretend things aren't all that bad. It must be getting really old by now.
You need to look at this as a "good" thing, if Romney wins! Liberals are much more happy and comfortable in a position of 'challenger' than actually leading. It's what you guys do best, it's when you shine your brightest, when you have a 'cause' and a 'mission' to fight for! Remember how much fun it was to rail and bash on Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc.? Remember how warm and fuzzy you all felt, jumping up on your moral high horse to fight the 'good fight' against the evil Wepubwicans? All the sit-ins and protests? Don't you all wax a little nostalgic for the good old days? Think about how much easier your lives are going to be, when you can relax, sit back and hurl mean insulting hate-filled rants with impunity against the Republican president and his administration. That's what you guys live for, that's what makes your days worthwhile... this constantly having to defend Obama and explain his actions, is not suitable to your demeanor. Constantly having to be in 'damage control' mode, is getting kind of old, I am sure. So sit back and think about how much more content you're going to be the next 4 years, when you again have something to fight for and get worked up over. It's really not the end of the world if you lose, and you'll all be so much happier in the end.
