London Riots

It seems to be across the spectrum as it were and usually I would be first to suggest the concerns of 'the rioters' should be adressed.
However, in this case, while there may well be an undercurrent of 'disillusionment' among British youth, there is also simple loutishness.
Well, the schoolboy is returning to London from his 10,000 pounds per week Italian luxury to sort it all out!
This is the man who gave us such memorable phrases as 'Hug a Hoody'!
How the hell an Etonian swot could ever begin to understand the British underclass beats me.
The police are, according to some reports, hidebound by 'political correctness' and being held back in case they are accused of racism. Is it racism to beat the living fuck out of rioters when you beat whites, browns and blacks the same?
If I had my way I'd tie them together like the slaves of old and parade them through the streets of London to apologise to everyone, then force the little bastards to rebuild and put right everything they ruined and they would each be given a bill for the repairs and made to repay for the rest of their miserable, drugged up lives.
But then, I've always been a bit of a softy.

Low, it wasn't that many years ago that the Met was accused of institutional racism by the Stephen Lawrence enquiry, so you can understand why they erred on the side of caution initially. I agree that they should be made to rectify the damage they caused.

They've now cancelled the England v. Holland friendly at Wembley tomorrow.

At least some good has come out of this rioting bidness.

I am fully aware of that, Tom. But I dont remember anything like this and the public appear to be encouraging more 'positive' policing. Why are the politicians so afraid of water cannon? It might be the first wash some of them have ever had. (The rioters, not the politicians... oh I don't know thogh!)
I have huge sympathy with people who are suffering at the hands of the government but none whatsoever for these louts.
Isn't there I nice cold and windy Scottish island they could all be put on, left for a month and any survivors banged up in the Scrubs?

As far as I know they don't have any on the mainland and they might still need them in Northern Ireland. Anyway what about the Toxteth and Brixton riots in the 80s?

Good old Chris Morris, he seems to have disappeared off the telly these days. Have you seen Four Lions?

I haven't caught it yet. I usually wait until things turn up on Sky these days. Although i'm guessing it'll appear on Film 4 sometime.

I don't think anything will ever beat Brass Eye though.

The water cannon are, as you say, being used by the Belfast Parks and Gardens Department but they could be on the mainland in a night. Well that's how long the ferry took when I used to go.
I know Toxteth very well but not Brixton. Toxteth was no where near on the same scale as the current riots, for one thing there was 'good reason' for them and for another it was basically a basically race riot. Unlikely they will kick off in Toxteth again, it would disturb the peaceful sleep of the drug barons and would be a terrible waste of the investment made in the Liverpool police. [Only joking officer!]

The face of evil....

Coming soon to your neighborhood.....so learn to cringe and grovel and beg....

Some 525 arrests have been made in London alone and dozens were arrested in other cities. Police announced Tuesday that plastic bullets would be "one of the tactics" available to officers to quell the riots.

Plastic bullets, wow...they really mean business....next thing you know they'll be shooting cotton balls at the criminals.....

It is not a movement. It is simply tweeted gangs having what they think is fun. If there was a movement their problems would have been voiced by now. This is gratuitous violence and thuggery.
There is a problem, certainly. It is the resumption of Aristocratic rule over the poor of Britain. We have gone back to the pre-Wilson era when the 'upper class' saw it as their god given right to rule.
That problem should be addressed in the house of commons and the Labour party need to get their act together (that might be easier said than done) and the nation needs to realised that the Aristocratic class needs to be abolished once and for all.
We just shoot the bastards here.

The rioters should KILL THEM ALL! Now is the time, working class! Time for a revolution! Time to take back what is yours, take back for the workers, what has been held for too long by the unrightful owners! Time to establish a Socialist republic!
SKIDMARK, LOOK A SQUIRELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like a non-racist, economic based riot to me, kinda like in Egypt, and, dare I say it, Milwaukee.

The main difference between London and Milwaukee being that in London all the poor people are not just black.

With all the taxation that buys free services in the UK the poor still want more? We have posters wishing to abolish the only economic class that holds their economy together? This is the kind of fomenting that leads to violence... Class warfare is a Trojan horse in a socialistic democracy. The problem the poor have in the UK, is, that they are without hope of rising out of the mediocre economic quagmire created by huge tax burdens. Tax burdens they opened up their arms to for free services...now they feel the chains.
