Liz Cheney

Perhaps. The Constitution is silent on who is eligible to be Speaker. I’d love to see her elected, but it won’t happen.

Whoever it ends up to be is a glutton for punishment.

Agreed it won't happen.

Agreed again, but I think there's going to be a period of chaos first.

She was in such danger after her role leading the J6 Committee she couldn't even campaign in her own state safely. Why would she want to endanger her life and that of her family re-entering the buzzsaw that is GOP politics? Who in the GOP would support her? Doing so would put any GOP'er's life in danger from the bloodthirsty maga nazi crowd.

Liz is back in Wyoming in her mc-mansion safe and sound. No way will she want anything to do with going back into politics. No way! Nope. Not gonna happen.

Of course.. I could be wrong!

Better to be a javelin catcher at a track meet than a Speaker of the House under Republican majority.

Javelin catchers don't get souvenir gavels and their portrait in Congress. :)

The Speaker’s Lobby hosts a significant gathering of portraits as well as people. The House of Representatives Speaker Portrait Collection is a vital visual record of House history. As noted in the bronze plaque hung in the lobby, the collection was conceived as a “tribute to their worth to the nation.” A portrait of the first Speaker of the House, Frederick Muhlenberg of Pennsylvania anchors the display, with portraits in a range of styles lining the lobby in all directions, from the post-modern realist look of Thomas "Tip" O'Neill's portrait by Robert Vickery to American Impressionist Edmund Tarbell's depiction of Frederick Huntington Gillett.
