The vice-chairwoman of the congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol is not ruling out a criminal referral against Donald Trump, saying “a man as dangerous as [him] can never be anywhere near the Oval Office ever again”.

Liz Cheney’s remarks Sunday came after the committee’s chairman, Bennie Thompson, once said he did not expect the panel to indicate whether or not it would make a recommendation for federal prosecutors to charge the former president with an alleged role in the Capitol attack.

A long while back, my sister told me she thought Liz Cheney would be America's first woman president.

I cringed at the thought.

Now...I would not count out my voting for her.

But she has shown lots of spine...and makes a lot more sense than the nut cases at both ends of today's political spectrum.

So I do not think it impossible for me to vote for her. Not that I would vote for her...BUT THAT IT WOULD NOT BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO DO SO.

I would take Ms. Cheney over Trump any day, she is a traditional republican too, not a fringe politician?!! I hope she and others can keep Trump from every getting into the white-house again?!!

I believe that the committee's goal is to ensure that #TRE45ON is never, ever allowed near power again.

It really is up to Biden and AG Garland. If Trump does not get prosecuted he will lead another armed insurrection.

I dunno. She has far too many principles, too much courage, and is not in thrall to the #CorruptCheeto. In other words, she has no chance at all in today's QOP. I'll be surprised if she gets re-elected as a rep.
