I will accept your tacit confession that Cheney wasn't talking about nations like Cuba.

The Bolsheviks didn't establish a totalitarian dictatorship until after they eliminated all opposition. Which meant ignoring the free election of December 1917, and disbanding Russia's democratic legislature.

When the Bolsheviks initially seized power, they claimed they were doing on behalf of the soviets, which were genuinely democratic municipal and national bodies representing workers, soldiers, peasants.

Lenin's whole philosophy was that an elite vanguard would seize power from the provisional government by deception and subterfuge regarding their real motives.

Which party wants all of the following enacted into federal law?

All mail-in balloting
Same day voter registration
Automatic voter registration upon getting a driver's license
Registering 16 and 17-year-olds to vote and then saying they can't until they're 18
Using ballot drop boxes and ballot harvesting
No voter ID requirements
No purging of voter rolls
Not allowing poll watchers free access to observe the process

Every citizen should be automatically registered to vote, the day they are born.

What the problem with purging voter rolls?
No ID requirements in my state, all works fine

Those are all questionable practices, and there are more. I'll say it again: If questionable practices are used in an election, then the election is questionable. If you want elections to not be questioned, eliminate questionable practices to the greatest extent possible.
