Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore tore up a copy of Saturday's Washington Post with the headline "Trump Takes Power" as an act of protest while speaking at the Women's March on Washington.
“We do not accept Betsy DeVos as our secretary of education!” he shouted.
Moore and other Democrats have been critical of DeVos for her views on school choice and for saying during a Senate hearing that guns should be allowed in schools in order to protect from grizzly bear attacks.
Moore also said that while he’s been an activist for Planned Parenthood, he had never formally joined the group.
“So this morning, I joined Planned Parenthood,” he said.
Moore said the Democratic Party needs new leadership after having won the popular vote but losing the Electoral College. He then called on the audience to run for office.
“Twice now, we won the White House, yet they walked through the door!” he said, referencing the 2000 election where Al Gore beat George W. Bush in the popular vote as well as last year's election between Trump and Hillary Clinton.
