why is it fine to fly the flag of the people who brutalized black people and tried to destroy this country?
 
"everyone is welcome"? sorry, but slaveowners and traitors should NOT be welcome and that's what that flag represents.

Because that's not what it stands for any more.

Just because it was, for YEARS, recognized as a symbol of the oppression of black people is irrelevant.
