The problem with the Boomer perspective is that the Boomer generation is a generation focused on the individual and not society. "Rugged individualism" wasn't a thing until very recently, like the last 40 years. That "rugged individualism" was never a staple of modern American culture until the Boomer generation thought suffering was a virtue. Their parents suffered through two world wars and a great Depression...Boomers took the wrong message away from those because they weren't overcome by individuals, they were overcome by society pulling together to work for a common goal.

Boomers one way or another lost that perspective, likely because they were really the first American generation to live a relatively safe and comfortable life. No world wars...no massive economic crises...nothing that truly caused an existential threat to the individual. So it was super easy for a charlatan actor like Reagan to get a sense of how to manipulate people who never really had to struggle, into thinking that struggling was a virtue in order to justify draconian policy.

Your screed doesn’t apply to all boomers, sorry. There are those of us who have always fought for society and the greater good. It is just unfortunate that those who hold the power do not. There is still a large portion of the Boomers who are nothing like you claim, just as not all millennials are lazy and live in their parents basements. Do you see how incorrect generalizations are?

I just told you that I've voted straight Democrat in every election I could vote in, beginning in 1998, when I could cast my first ballot.

And consider why youth turnout was so poor for Democrats for so many years; the candidates you chose didn't represent our interests or needs.

So why would young people vote for someone who doesn't represent them, who disregards them, and who preaches a individualist philosophy that is disconnected to how younger people see society and their role in it?

The Boomer generation was focused on the individual, where Gen Xers and Millennials think bigger. They're the generations that grew up with the internet and digital connectivity, who see the world in a much broader way than Boomers do.

The Boomer generation isn't the generation of big ideas anymore.

It's time to cede that mantle, just as Pelosi is doing.
 
The list will be long as the candidates jockey for popularity within their respective party.

And there will be as many Republicans to choose from as there were in 2016- and we will see an unusually high number of Democrats running this time around as well.

But, there is no clear-cut front-runner in either party right now, as Donald Trump will not be in the picture by then. He will have either been impeached, or under indictment long before 2020 gets here.

Many younger voters are looking for candidates that are younger than the usual 60-70 year olds offerings of late! The older these candidates are, the more baggage they bring along.

Healthcare and healthcare insurance will be center, creating a new long-awaited and overdue immigration Bill, and resolving problems created by the last Tax Bill will be center as well.

The candidates that will be the most popular will have the answers most people are looking for in dealing with those issues.

I'd ask why they think that? How can that judgment be made when Gen Xers weren't even considered in the conversation and were largely ignored...then when a Gen Xer became President, Boomers did everything they could to work against him and undermine him.

And Reagan undid much of that environmental protection. As did Clinton. As did Bush the Dumber. And as Trump is doing now.

Did they? Seems product standards have been around a lot longer than the Boomer generation gaining political relevancy. And as more shit was made in China during the Boomer reign, product quality declined, didn't it? "Cheapo Chinese product". That shit only started happening in the 80's, when Boomer voices were dominant.

The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964, before most Boomers could even vote.

The Equal Rights Amendment was never ratified.

The first legal pot law wasn't until 1994/5, once Gen Xers began voting.

What Boomers did pass was the Criminal Justice Reform of the 90's, which lead to mass incarceration.

It's not the Millennials that have the "I don't care about anyone else" attitude. That would be the Trump Crowd!

This will be the first presidential election that Millennials will be of legal age to vote. And look for them to be a huge part of the vote.

So you may not want to hear what they want, but you may want to listen!
