Let's Hear it For The Phoenix Suns!

Naaa, it's just that some of us think that the Constitution was writen for all Americans. Not just white ones.

I agree the Arizona law is Unconstitutional, however so is mandating people buy health insurance and I doubt your consistant on that. That's why I'm sick of Dems and Pubs, both do Unconstitutional stuff then lambast the other side. Fuckin Hypocrites.

they did it as a political statement, I heard Steve Nash call out all the racist who support the law on ESPN.

the owner said they did it to show support for their many hispanic fans. Of course with rich whites being a majority of their tickets holders there was the possibility that they would alienate some of them but the above was the stated impetus for the decision.

I think Halliburton understands that their political points may make or break them, just like the Suns probably do. However, calling yourselves "Los Nuggets" or "Los Suns" on Cinco de Mayo really isn't much of a political statement.

The "team" made several statements condemning the new law, also.

How is it unconstitutional??

totally b*tchin'

Holy crap, some of these jocks are f*cking pretty articulate.

Can you imagine Sarah Palin saying anything unscripted that sounds this articulate and lucid?

"I think [the Suns' stance] is fantastic," Steve Nash said. "I think the law is, uh, very misguided. I think it's unfortunately to the detriment of our society and our civil liberties, and I think it's really important for us to stand up for things we believe in.

"As a team and an organization, we have a lot of love and support for all of our fans. The league is very multicultural. We have players from all over the world, and our Latino community here is very strong and important to us. I think that's where the law obviously can target opportunities for racial profiling, for things that we don't want to see and we don't need to see -- especially in 2010."

Asked if he felt the law reflected poorly on Arizona, Nash agreed.

"It doesn't feel good to have people around the world and around the country look at our state as less than equal, less than fair," Nash said. "As a proud citizen of the state, I want us to be held in the highest of esteem. ... I think we need to be very cautious in how we respect our civil liberties, and the tone we're setting and the precedent we're setting going forward."

Well actually if you read the article link the Suns stated that it was more about recognizing and appreciating their Latino fans in the community, then making a political comment.

Is mandating that all Americans who earn an income pay income taxes unconstitutional?

You are kinda of feeding us a straight line for a George W. Bush joke. The modern president most reponsible for employing most english teachers in modern history.

Shouldn't Haliburton be more focused on making a profit and servicing its clients? Why the double standard on your part? Can't the Suns do both play basketball and support their community?

OH WELL THEN; shouldn't the Federal Government do something about the border, seeing as how it was a campaign promise.

Let's just hold everyone to the same accountability and what are you doing to help solve the situation of immigration; illegal and legal??

Right. And I think it would have happened exactly that way regardless of whether or not the law passed and many people are making a huge deal over a statement on Cinco de Mayo... Which, in Mexico, is a largely unrecognized holiday celebrating one battle in a tiny place called Puebla.
