It was a stupid question. Even if she was, which I find impossible to believe, would she answer yes knowing that her chances of being appointed would be zero. Why didn't he ask her if she was a member of the KKK or the Proud Boys whilst he was about it?

You think it's a stupid question because you're not living in trump's America. trump won't seriously disavow white supremacists or Qanon and there are people who hang onto his every word here. I agree it's sad that such a question had to be asked instead of taking for granted that every American would oppose white supremacy.

There is no principle about whether an appointment should be made in an election year. It is a decision based on whether the party has the power to further their agenda.

Calling it a "fix" would mean any president appointing a Justice who shares their political ideology/party is a fix and that would be every appointment.
