Illegal entry to a country, criminal damage, rape, theft etc...are not traditions the modern world wants to import
 
I would like to point out that it goes against the grain to deliberately let people drown. However if the EU hadn't been so ineffectual and sent border guards to Greece whilst suspending their membership of the Schengen Area then those migrants would been reduced to a trickle. The UK can hold its head high as we has been the greatest contributor to building refugee camps, providing food and medical aid in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. Currently over one billion pounds, more than all the other members of the EU put together has been spent on those camps.

if these people know that they're going to be picked up and rescued, then likely taken to Europe anyway, then they'll keep coming - ie. the whole search and rescue operation is acting as a magnet. Stop the rescuing, and perhaps bomb the staging areas, this will stop the vermin!
