What the problem needs is a fresh look. Sooner or later, at the rate we're going, the country is going to be open to solutions that were off the table even 5 years ago. Have you seen the poll numbers for Trumps ban on Muslim immigration?

I think some hard choices are ahead for this country---and the West in General. France is further down the road than we are. They didn't even lift the state of emergency after their last attack before they were attacked again. We had two attacks in under a year.

Now Turkey is becoming unstable and you can rest assured ISIS and other groups are well aware of it. If Turkey falls it's going to get ugly because they are a buffer for Europe.

I agree that it's depressing. I'd rather go back to the gay wedding cake and similar issues.

I see Trump's suggestions as knee-jerk kinds of things - things that might make many feel better, but will they "stop" terrorism?

Extremely unlikely, imo. They'll just appeal to our innate need to "do something," but I haven't heard anything yet that I would call a real solution.

Had Western democracies not occupied Tunisia, created and backed the State of Israel, not propped up dictators in the Middle East for decades, not invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and killed millions of people who didn't participate in the September 11 or July 7 attacks..the list is endless.

But they did, and now they must deal with the consequences of a stateless people fighting back the only way they can.

You can't keep them out, and you can't kill them all. Anyone who pretends that they can - or even come close - is lying to get your vote.

Trump says he can do something about terrorism, but he can't stop it. Nobody can.

Branding a religion with 1.6 billion adherents as "the enemy" and making non-viable promises to expel and exclude them from the US will make America look weak and scared - just like ILA.

The ILA solution may very likely recruit more radical jihadists filled with anti-American hate.

He's too scared to spout his opinions in public, but you can be pretty certain they have seen them or similar ones on JPP.

iunderstand for some reason I can't quote fully either. It's probably too much security or some setting on my CPU -I have paid Malwarebytes, as well as Kaspersky- required by my work..

Trump will do a lot of blustery, chest-beating things to "address" terrorism. I'd be surprised if they amounted to anything.

People see an attack like this week, and just want to see action. But what action would have prevented this past attack?

The answer is probably something that most people really don't want to hear or discuss.
