Land Grab

A tortoise isn’t the reason why BLM is harassing a 67 year-old rancher. They want his land. The tortoise wasn’t of concern when Harry Reid worked BLM to literally change the boundaries of the tortoise’s habitat to accommodate the development of his top donor, Harvey Whittemore.

it certainly wouldn't be the first time that a government destroyed lives to steal land, and it certainly won't be the last.

Yes, I'm reminded of the case of DONALD SCOTT

On October 2, 1992 Malibu California millionaire Donald Scott was shot to death inside his own home, during a raid by Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and agents from five federal law enforcement agencies. The Scotts were awakened by the sound of the police breaking down their door. Scott's wife, Frances, ran downstairs to find her house swarming with men with guns aimed at her. She screamed "don't shoot me, don't kill me." Donald Scott, recovering from recent cataract surgery, got his gun and ran to the defense of his wife. When he emerged at the top of the stairs, holding his gun over his head, the officers told him to lower the gun. As he did, they shot him to death. The warrant was for evidence of the cultivation of marijuana, but no illegal activity was discovered at the Scott ranch. The report of the Ventura County District Attorney, Michael Bradbury, concluded that the police lied to obtain the search warrant, that there had never been any marijuana cultivation on the property, and that the raid was motivated by a desire to forfeit the multi-million dollar ranch. Despite the DA's dramatic conclusions, no officer was ever indicted, or even lightly disciplined for the lies or the killing.

I'm just curious how this can be classified as a "land grab", when: He stopped paying grazing fees and disregarded several court orders to remove his animals and BLM officials say Bundy now owes more than $1.1 million in unpaid grazing fees.
and
2 - He says he doesn't recognize federal authority over state land.

"Those who say Bundy is a “deadbeat” are making inaccurate claims. Bundy has in fact paid fees to Clark County, Nevada in an arrangement pre-dating the BLM. The BLM arrived much later, changed the details of the setup without consulting with Bundy — or any other rancher — and then began systematically driving out cattle and ranchers."

And it appears that you've decided to just defend, rather then discuss the two comments I posed.
OH-well.

This isnt complicated, the land is not his, he did not PAY for it, he did not BUY THE LAND.
The land isnt his to do whatever he wants on it. Doesnt matter how long he got away with it, he got busted and now his free ride is over. To allow him to do what he wants with federal land that doesnt belong to him means everyone everywhere in the country can do whatever they want on federal land.

If this guy or anyone else believes making threats is going to back the govt off hes nuts and btw what happened to the 5,000 man militia that was supposed to form and back the govt down. Fizzled huh, imagine that.

The right needs to take on issues they are at least half assed right about.

I still don't see how this is a "land grab", as some have suggested.

Do you ever attempt to pay $.50 cents when you cross a toll bridge, just because it used to be that cheap decades earlier?

Cliven Bundy and his family claim that they can trace their family ownership back to around the 1870s on their current property in Clark County. This is well before any Federal offices such as the EPA, BLM, or water management were created. This corresponds with the Homestead rights that were established during the Lincoln administration in 1862 to entice people to settle the western frontier and expand the U.S. agricultural enterprises. This 19th-century policy was meant to encourage and support settlement by families like the Bundys. Now, over 150 years later, what seemed to be borderless country surrounding small-town Bunkerville in Nevada is an inhospitable petri dish for the experiments of growing Federal regulations.

The Bundy Ranch “VO” is now the last large cattle ranch standing in Clark County. According to an anonymous source who has lived in Nevada for thirty-five years, the other major ranches in Clark County have been driven out of existence for one reason or another by the BLM and the Feds. It is claimed that the BLM are masquerading as conservationists, using their Federal power to wield the final blow to reclaim the settlement rights they once honored to settlers like the Bundys.

If Bundy wants to cite ancient history, then he'd better return his ranch to the native Americans

Liz Fields reported for ABC News 12 April 2014:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters. ...Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of his sons was arrested while protesting the removal of the cattle. "I have no contract with the United States government," Bundy said. "I was paying grazing fees for management and that's what BLM was supposed to be, land managers and they were managing my ranch out of business, so I refused to pay."

...However, today the BLM said it would not enforce a court order to remove the cattle and was pulling out of the area.

They will wait until this whole thing blows over, and all the supporters are gone. Then, they will stealthily re-engage.

it's up to the feds, but we are certainly willing to utilize the clintonista rules of engagement if necessary

While you do seem to have a plethora of articles to refer to, I have yet to see how this is a land grab.

Are you suggesting that those fees and fines apply only to Bundy; but everyone else on BLM land gets a pass?

did you bother reading any of the other articles posted? or are you just of the mindset with dredd, "I AM THE LAW"!!!!!!

find out the money trail of harry reid and his contributors
