L.L. Cool J. Is Dope

This is awesome:

The burglar who broke into the Studio City home of actor-rapper LL Cool J suffered a broken nose and jaw in what police sources described as a "knock-down, drag-out" fight.

Los Angeles police were called to the star's home in the 12000 block of Blairwood Drive around 1 a.m. Wednesday, officials said. LL Cool J was holding the suspect when officers arrived, officials said.

LL Cool J, born James Todd Smith, rose to fame with musical hits such as "Mama Said Knock You Out" and "I'm Bad." He currently stars in "NCIS: Los Angeles."

Detectives were waiting to interview the suspect, who was not immediately identified, at a hospital where he was being treated. The suspect is described as a transient, and police could not immediately say whether he had a criminal record.

LL Cool J was upstairs in his home when he heard noise coming from the kitchen area. When he went down to see what was happening, the unidentified suspect came at him, leading to the fight.

"Mama Said Knock You Out" was a big hit and people hated on Walking Like a Panther, but that record was dope. My favorite:

I liked a few songs on Walking Like A Panther but I could never get into the whole album. He had three love songs on it. Overall there are very few better than LL. He is a living legend. And great story about him knocking out the robber.

So if the intruder shot him dead at least he'd be a real man? Yeah, I think most people would rather live.

The intruder could have shot him dead even if he had a gun .. and knowing enough about LL Cool J .. I'm betting that he did have a gun in the house.

The point is, guns don't always protect you .. and there is a good chance that it will kill someone you know.

But this isn't about guns .. it's about someone who defended his home and loved ones without one.

Exactly. He didn't piss his pants and start crying. Sorry but the way some of the gun nuts talk, they would IMO. We're all entitled to our opinions. To me, what he did takes a real man. I like it.

I'll be the first to say I wish people would go old school and fight out their differences rather than turning to guns. I don't own a gun but if I did and someone broke into my house fuck that I'd have no problem taking them out if the situation called for it.

If someone is the age and at the fitness level of LL, by all means go the fight route. Unfortunately, plenty of people are not. That is why many have a gun. It is also fortunate that the intruder didn't have a gun or there could have been another R.I.P. thread for a celebrity.

Much respect for you brother .. appreciate it if I can give you a thought.

When I first started learning Isshinryu karate, I was impressed by its power and efficiency. I didn't just learn it, I lived it. I loved the challenge, I loved to fight. I lived at the dojo and became the lead instructor. It gave me a confidence that I transferred to everything and still carry today.

There has been more than one occassion when I've had to use it in threatening confrontations. But when I did, there was a limit to how far I would go. Even when I was furious and would have been legally justifed in inflicting far more serious damage, there was a limit.

My point to you is that even if you had a gun and was confronted, I believe you would limit the solution to what you had to do, not what you could do.

Would you kill if you didn't have to .. even if you could?

I don't think so brother.

Not because you're weak, but because you're stronger than that.

Well said.

There is another consideration that should be addressed. Had the intruder managed to win the fight, our hero's daughter would have been at his mercy. This is a consideration any time I investigate a noise at night. Should I do something stupid and be taken out, my wife & daughter are unprotected. (well, in my case they are also armed)

This is embarrassing to admit bac but I'm a 40 year old man who has never been in a fight. I've had many opportunities but I've either been able to talk my way out of them or diffuse the situation. So I'm not one of those he looked at me funny let's fight types. I've also held a gun maybe once in my life and have never owned one so I'm not big into let's go shoot this place up either. I have no idea how I would react if I had a gun in my hand and me or my family was in danger because I've never been in that situation. I just personally have a problem faulting someone who uses their gun when they feel their family is in danger.

That's not embarrassing. You should be proud of that.

I'm 26, and the only time I was in a fight was when I was 10, and I exchanged blows with an older student (and got in trouble). I am always amazed what guys will fight over - particularly when you get a little alcohol into them.

That's not embarrassing, it's fantastic. If more people could diffuse the situation by talking we'd have a lot fewer gun tragedies.

LOL

What a cheap ass fucker, don't the brother know when you famous and make some money you put in an home alarm system?? Second, how much of a fighter could a homeless hungy man been? He acted more like Urkel...
