Krugman: Obama Could 'Go Down In History As The Wimp Who Threw It All Away'

$250,000 is 4 or 5 times the median household income in virtually any major metropolitan area in the country. What people who earn that sum of money choose to spend it on doesn't change the fact that it's a hell of a lot more than most people earn.

I understand that it may not "feel" like a lot of money to the people earning it, especially as compared to income above that level that may be taxed at the same rate. That's why I personally think we need more tax brackets at the upper end. I think it's stupid to lump everything over $250,000 or even $450,000 together under one tax bracket.

For the 1000th time, no one is saying that it isn't a lot of money compared to the average person. We have stated time and again that it is upper middle income in some areas and 'rich' in others. What part of that are you failing to comprehend?

I have not seen the new brackets, but assuming you are correct... it is not stupid given that those who make more will have a higher effective tax rate than those that pay less. Just for the record, up until at least last year, the final bracket began at $379k.

Darla speaks the truth.

Not in '08, not in '12.

The label read Corporatist.

I wasn't buying .. chose a product that sat well with my principles and spirituality.

Good on you. After 8 years of Bush, I think I would have bought anyone left of Cheney as a candidate of change.

I wonder if it's a mutually exclusive proposition, though - a catch-22 of sorts. By the nature of the political system, anyone who sits well with your principles and spirituality almost certainly will never win the Presidency. Anyone who CAN win the Presidency is naturally a corporatist and phony.

Kind of a drag.

Kind of a drag.

.. and an unfortunate reality of American politics.

It is a system that has been refitted to function only in the interests of the corporate will.

Today's Democratic Party is as far to the right since the days of slavery .. with a black man at the helm.

The irony is mindboggling.
