I don't remember him saying that, but to think that the president saying that Paul Ryan was a serious guy was consequential in any respect whatsoever is pretty weak. He's the chairman of the budget committee for Christ's sake. Whether the president says he's a serious guy doesn't much matter. He's a serious guy because he wields tremendous power by virtue of his position, even if he's a complete dumbass.

Well, when did it happen? I remember him going to a GOP conference and saying that the Ryan Roadmap was a serious proposal after it had been declared such by every major media outlet and picking it apart as fundamentally flawed on Medicare because it turned it into a voucher program. I think you're ascribing Ryan ascension as the GOP ideas man to Obama when that really isn't how it happened. Also, too, Ryan is kind of the default ideas guy since there really isn't anyone else.
And I'm saying that Obama hasn't done stupid shit, but the idea that going to a GOP conference and being respectful while shitting on the substance of Ryan's Roadmap doesn't rank as one of them.

I thought it was during the health care summit. I don't know what you mean by GOP conference. And I don't remember his saying anything about the substance of Ryan's plan, just that he had read it, had some disagreements with it, but really respected Ryan as a serious guy. Ryan's a fucking clown, not a serious guy.
Obama has done more than some stupid shit. He squandered the best chance for a resurgent liberalism we've had since the 30's. He's a fucking arrogant asshole. Yeah he's better than the alternative, but at this point I can barely stand him.

Was the health care summit a republican event? And I just don't see telling the truth about someone's so-called plan as being a dick. I think Obama contributed to the Ryan love fest. So did Ezra Klein. But Obama is the President. His calling a clown a serious guy has consequences IMO.

Yes, he is a way to vent! I feel your frustration at issues. I had to stop watching TV, I did a rare thing Friday and turned on the news, I started to yell at the set, knew it was time to switch to a comedy, so I watched Bucky Larson, it was so ridiculous, it made me feel better! Adam Sandlers comedy is so juvenile.

Dh, some say that Ezra is "this close" with the WH. Do you think that his fluffing of Ryan was at the behest of the WH? Is there a good possibility that Obama wanted to turn Ryan into the fair haired boy so that cuts to Ss and medicare would look moderate in comparison?

I honestly don't know. This guy's past and his past positions simply cannot be reconciled with his behavior in office. I don't have him figured out.
I don't either, I think that is why you and I feel frustration.
I think that's nonsense, frankly. I think the more likely scenario is that Ryan fluffed Ezra and convinced him that he was genuinely concerned about health care issues so that Ezra would take him seriously.
Also, too, if you're the White House you have to work with somebody in the House. Who would you prefer? Boehner? Cantor? Pence? Those three are fucking nuts. Ryan's the default guy and you hope that you can deal with him instead of the others so you promote him and talk him up. Of course, it didn't work out, but I can't say that it was a dipshit thing to do.
