Knew we couldn’t make it a full week

Zero? That is certainly not fair. What else has to meet that standard? You are making up dumb shit and expect us to argue that instead of the obvious fact that guns make Amrica a much more dangerous place. Your anger makes you the kind of person who should not have guns.

Guns do not make anywhere a more dangerous place.

Chicago is an American city.

Just like NYC, Los Angeles, St Louis, Atlanta, Miami, Houston etc, etc.

They all suffer from gun-related violence and crime.

We need to clean up the violence in them all at the same time.

Best way to start is to reduce the number of guns in this country.

Cannot be done overnight, but we have to start somewhere.

Getting rid of 2A right-wing assholes would help a lot also.

Round them up, dump them and their guns in the middle of Montana and put a wall around them like Trump.

Let them shoot it out with each other.

Unconstitutional.

Mass shootings and school shootings are as American as apple pie, and the rights solution, give more people guns

Anchovies,

Here's how America could make a very consequential start to reducing its problem with gun violence.

The government says to "We the People" : "Look, y'all know we have a truly terrible problem with gun violence. Children are being murder at school by gun-toting maniacs, we have mass shootings taking place in public, we have cities like Chicago where individuals are blowing each other away by the dozen every week-end."

"Given this we will be passing legislation that will restrict the possession and ownership of firearms to those persons who have an IQ of at least 100 points as measured by an official, professionally-constructed, standardised IQ test."

The government will explain that there is voluminous, mainstream scientific evidence that confirms a strong positive correlation between low (lower than 100) IQ and criminal gun violence.

If such a policy were implemented it would prohibit morons from purchasing guns, and also take guns out the hands of most of the serious, psychiatric nut-jobs and substance addicts in society (because they typically lack the capacity/ability for the kind of clear rational/logical thinking that questions on IQ tests are designed to assess

Despite the sloppy wording of the 2nd Amendment, the framers were NOT thinking about a right for every American to own a firearm for self defense -the thought didn't even cross their minds. Rather they were SOLELY concerned with arming citizens TO FORM A TRAINED, "WELL-REGULATED" NETWORK OF DECENTRALISED, LOCAL MILITIAS for the defence of the republic against the threat of invading foreign enemies in the future.

Individual do not have a carte blanch, open right to own firearms. Because firearm are inherently dangerous weapons, and a person only has the right to own and use one if he can demonstrate that he has sufficient intelligence to exercise rational judgement, prudent responsibility and competent moral reasoning, and, is not a lunatic who is afflicted with serious psychological/psychiatric disorder.

You will say: "But even if we adopted your IQ 100 proposal, America currently has millions and millions of firearms in circulation, you would never be able to stop the formation of a large Black Market where lots dickheads could buy guns illegally. I agree that this would probably happen. The only remedy I can think of is to change the law so that if a person is caught with an illegal, Black Market firearm that person would face a mandatory prison sentence of say 10 or 15 years in prison; where 10 or 15 years MEANT 10 or 15 years - no sweet-heart deals and no early paroles.
