Kim Jong-un reportedly sending North Korean ‘slaves’ to Russia

I'm not partisan at all.

North Korea isn't Trump's fault at all. Admittedly, he's not been that great at handling the situation - ie the posturing and the empty threats. What he's going to find is the same thing that confronted previous administrations - the Chinese will only go so far in restraining NK, if they even can.

Bottom line is the Chinese prefer a nuclear armed North Korea than the Americans on their borders. They went to war last time to prevent this and they'll do it again.

There is no good outcome here.

Well, apparently nobody has been 'great' at handling the situation or we wouldn't be in this situation lol.

Trump is just over six months in so I don't expect him to do in six months what several other presidents couldn't do over the course of a decade.

Well, yes, there is no good outcome.

The point was, i thought, you were blaming previous administrations for "kicking the can down the road", no?

Trump is finding out that saying what should happen is slightly different than what will happen, just like his predecessors did.

I don't recall previous administrations putting a lot of emphasis on NK. Bush II had his hands full after 9/11 and then with Iraq and I don't recall Obama doing much about them either.

The North Korean government maintains strict controls over their workers’ profits, in some cases probably taking 90 per cent of their wages,” Scott Synder, director of the Program on US-Korea Policy at the Council of Foreign Relations, told Fox News.
exporting humanity and importing their paychecks.

The corruption has apparently only increased in the last 10 years as the monthly pay rate for the labourers has increased from about 17,000 roubles, around $376, to 50,000 roubles, or about $1079, according to the report.
decent pay ( even if it's get corruptly stolen).
we do the similar exploitation to our migrant workers

With all due respect, you're just some bloke on the internets, like me. You are completely unaware of what is going on behind the scenes on the world stage.

Now, if you want to believe that no American president has been briefed, at some considerable length, by the best funded intelligence services in the world, on the threat that North Korea posed to the world, then that's up to you, but i'm not going with that, thanks.

South Korea needs to get leaned on to implement the THAAD system

Oh, I have no doubt they were briefed, I just don't recall where they did much about it.

Bush II included them in the Axis of Evil but those are just words. Trump at least *seems* to have them on the front burner.

And they absolutely belong there.

THAAD would be overwhelmed in a nuclear exchange even if the ROK allows widespread deployment. It's possible the Chinese will launch too.

No good outcome, but this has to be faced. Otherwise the North Koreans will continue to push, and our allies and the whole world will be at risk.

Again, what do you suppose they could have done about it?

Any action in that area leads directly to conflict with China.

Conflict with China is 'undesirable', to say the least.

Trump isn't responsible for this situation, he's found himself in it. Every one of his predecessors would have prefered not to be in this situation but struggled to prevent it.

They are nuclear, they are going to develop a weapon capable of reaching America and they are going to do it soon (if they haven't already). We're just going to have to deal with it because we're not turning the clock back without killing millions.

i think it could be phased ( multi -staged in Japan and Hawaii to). If the Chinese launch, it's all over.
ABM systems are the key (I'm not an expert on them) to dealing with irrational state actors like lil' Kim

There's likely no military solution I can think of that won't involve millions, maybe billions of deaths.

But if we don't act, North Korea may, and soon.

We opened this Pandora's Box UNNECESSARILY.

Now we're faced with the reality that our safety may depend on getting rid of all of them .. ours included .. ours most especially.

We should just deal with it?

I get the sense that's not going to happen. China doesn't want to exchange nukes any more than we do. Nukes are the Mother of lose/lose propositions.

Consistent pressure on China. Wear them down with it till they cry uncle and reign in the fat Little mad man.

The little fat man with nukes is in China's best interests.

I wonder if Bowl Cut is crazy as legend has it.

He *has to know* that within minutes of firing a nuke at the US he is as good as dead. Or if he does manage to survive he'll have no country left. There's a decent chance he's bluffing and just wants to be taken seriously and/or use the nuke card to get rid of the sanctions.

He knows that the moment he sees a nuke coming, he's taking millions of lives with him.

His best position is defense.

What happens if the Chinese launch?

No more justplainpolitics is what happens.
