Killers love guns

You're losing your clout:

The vaunted National Rifle Association and the rest of the gun lobby -- for years presumed deadly to any politician who dared to buck them -- were firing blanks in the recent election.

Lobby-promoted candidates generally fared poorly. Candidates who support firearms controls that most people consider sensible were not routed, not even where typically hysterical campaigns were run against them.

At least for this election cycle, the single-issue, guns-are-everything voter -- the source of the lobby's political intimidation -- turned out to be more pussycat than tiger.

Might the way finally lie clear for the political system to engage pragmatically with the nation's reckless trafficking in firearms and the violence with which, partly as a consequence, Americans have had to put up with as no other people must do?

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has parsed the election results. The NRA conducted major television ad campaigns against Barack Obama in 13 key states, including several with histories of falling for the lobby's tactics. Obama carried 11 of those states.

And in the 25 congressional elections in which the Democrats gained seats, the NRA had backed 20 of the losers.

The Brady Campaign's president said, "We know of no candidates at any level, in any race, who lost because they supported sensible guns laws."

You don't have to take the gun-control organization's word for it. Gun Owners of America, though in its usual overwrought language, agrees: "The new Congress has moved decidedly in an anti-gun direction and many pro-gun leaders were defeated."

("Anti-gun," you understand, meaning, for instance, barring concealed firearms from airports.)

The gunners' answer to gun violence is public shoot-outs.

Their lobby fights even the most obvious common sense controls in favor of pushing for enabling legislation that would encourage people to carry more firearms in more public places.

Yet polling has found for some time that majorities -- often including most gun owners -- support a five-day waiting period for handgun purchases, limits on the number of firearms that can be bought at any one time, outlawing assault-style weapons, closing the loophole that lets buyers at gun shows duck background checks.

One election does not make a trend, but it can be fairly suspected -- and certainly hoped -- that in this election we may have seen the first welcome if unintended fruit from the Supreme Court's ruling this year that the Second Amendment asserts a personal right to gun ownership.

Historically, the courts had read the amendment as a community right pegged to the maintenance of state militias. Most control advocates hated the court's about-face, but the ruling equally made it clear that familiar controls -- and thus presumably, by extension, comparably sensible ones -- are not barred.

The reinterpretation has robbed the NRA et al. of the slippery-slope argument that they have used to malign effect for years in a state of near-constant frenzy -- the nutty claim that any gun control would soon lead to federal goons kicking in your door and grabbing your guns. And Hitler coming in right after them. (And you thought he was dead!)

Maybe, just maybe, even the ever-gulled are catching on that with private ownership nailed down, we can talk like adults about how to manage that right with good sense.

According to the gunlovers the next one will be all about this single issue.

BS, of course, but they threaten to vote against any candidate who favors stopping the gun slaughter....

First, the NRA stands for 'Negotiate Rights Away', which is why i'll never be a member

Second, the election was not about guns, but despite your claims that the Brady Bunch thinks it was belies the fact that less people want gun control now than they did a year ago.

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Broadcasters are reporting that a Michigan community college is on lockdown because of a gunman on campus.

A woman who answered the phone in the president's office at Henry Ford Community College Friday told The Associated Press that police have secured the area but there was a gunman at the Dearborn school.

Dearborn police and the campus security say they are dealing with an emergency and are unable to provide any information.

Yet another senseless act caused by gunlovers, who are responsible for the lack of real gun control legislation in the nation.

yippee, because state laws mandate students being defenseless, the only thing they can do when someone breaks the law is run like scattered rabbits from the hunter.

If gunlovers didn't falsely claim they have a right to kill nobody would need protection from them.

Weapons = death.

Actually weapons do equal freedom. It's just this current crop of world statists are trying to make it appear that weapons are only for bad, and that the current regimes of death should persist forever into the future, forgetting apparently that these regimes too, were forged in blood.

Just for DNC:

Around midnight, two men armed with a shotgun and a pistol entered Larry’s Game Room in Atascosa County, Texas. One of the robbers fired into the air and pointed a gun at a female employee, forcing her to the floor. The owner retrieved his .40-caliber pistol and emerged from a back room. The owner fired at the criminals, killing one and causing the other to flee.

The police do not plan to charge the owner. (WOAI San Antonio, Texas 04/02/09)

Police say two suspected burglars have already been dealt a great deal of punishment. First, a homeowner caught the suspects rifling through his garage. "I asked him what the hell he was doing and he said, 'Cleaning the garage,'" the homeowner recalls. The homeowner ran inside to get a gun, and the suspects fled. Police caught one of the men hiding under a nearby vehicle. His accomplice was arrested after he brazenly broke into a second home. In that incident, the homeowner shot the suspect with a shotgun and held him for police. (The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, OK, 12/20/08)

Ninety-year-old Berlie Mae Johnson was watching the evening news with her husband when two men burst through the back door. "Be quiet. Don't say a word. Don't move!" demanded one of the intruders as he put a gun to her head. "It's terrible. You expect at any moment... " she said, her voice cracking. "My nerves are shot. He'd probably have killed me." But her husband, Charles, age 91, came to the rescue. He grabbed his .38-caliber revolver from under a sofa cushion. One of the intruders fled immediately. "He saw the gun and, boy, he was gone," Mr. Johnson recalls. The other intruder was still threatening his wife, but a single shot from Johnson's revolver sent him running. Johnson said he has a message for others: "Be prepared. Keep your doors locked. And be alert." His wife added, "And have a gun ready." (Orlando Sentinel, Orlando, FL, 12/25/08)

The owner of Midwest Grillz and Jewelry, Andre McKesson, let two men into his store while a third man waited outside. The men expressed interest in purchasing a decorative mouthpiece known as a grill, but an argument ensued. The man outside recalls hearing, "Why you playing games with us, man? Where's our teeth? Can you give a refund? Then give me my teeth!" Police say one of the men pulled a gun and fired two shots into the wall where McKesson had been standing. McKesson grabbed a semi-automatic rifle from behind the counter and killed both assailants. (Omaha World-Herald, Omaha, NE, 01/17/09)

While fetching wood from her garage one evening, a 70-year-old woman heard what sounded like people fighting. "I looked over into the road to see what was going on, and about that time a guy comes running around the house," she explained. The woman ran inside, got her gun and dialed 9-1-1. The man circled the house, pounding on all the windows. He broke through the living room window and knocked over the television. The woman can be heard on the 9-1-1 tape yelling at the man, "You stay right where you're at!" Police say she aimed her gun at the intruder and told him, "If you come any closer, you're going to be dead." She then ordered him to the floor and he obeyed, collapsing into a fetal position. He remained that way until police arrested him. (South Bend Tribune, South Bend, IN, 01/06/09)

For far too long we have allowed the gunlovers and their partners in murder the NRA to dictate their death decrees masquerading as a "right".

As a consequence we have tens of thousands of gun deaths in this nation every year.

The fact that guns are more likely to cause a death than defend a victim, is glossed over by the nauseating and contemptible manner in which the gunlovers deny any complicity in the rampant wave of gun violence.

As a result of the political actions of the NRA who seem content to allow as many guns in as many hands as possible, there are dead kids in almost every city in America.

Due to the gross distortion of the Second Amendment pushed by the NRA fat cats funeral directors make extra profits by making gun-blasted young people look presentable for a funeral.

Families are forced to shop for coffins for their kids due to the selfish gun lovers, who seem to think their supposed right to own guns supersedes the safety of their fellow citizens.

Kids are not supposed to die before their parents, much less be murdered with a gun. But thanks to the gunlovers there are 2 more names in Michigan today to be added to the growing list of victims killed by guns in America.

It is time to stand up to the gunlovers and their well paid lobbyists. How many more must die before it's time to end gun violence?

DNC would rather all these people silently and without comment take their victimization.

MO: Woman shoots, kills would-be rapist at her home
Source: Southeast Missourian
Posted on 11.02.08 by Mary Lou Seymour

“A Cape Girardeau woman shot and fatally wounded Ronnie W. Preyer, 47, a registered sex offender who had broken into her home early this morning with the intention of raping her a second time, Cape Girardeau Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said today. Swingle said he will not be charging the victim, an older woman who positively identified Preyer this morning as the man who raped her on Saturday. … Police were actively working the unsolved rape case, Swingle said, and had been frequently driving past the woman’s home in case her attacker returned. … the woman was at home watching television, when Preyer broke the same basement window and came in, getting the still-wet calking on his clothing as he did so, police reports said. He found a main fuse panel in the basement and shut off the electricity. The victim immediately tried to call 911, but the phone would not work because there was no electric. Having recently purchased a shotgun, she grabbed the weapon and when Preyer began banging on the basement door, she was ready for him. When he crashed through the basement door into her kitchen, she shot him once in the chest and ran, heading for a neighbor’s house, where she called the police.” (10/31/08)

All of you who want to ban guns want this woman and many others like her to be raped INSTEAD of defending herself. Those are the only two options. You want to pretend that you want a world where men don't rape, where are rapists are kept in jail forever and ever, and other forms of make believe bullshit. If this woman lived in DNC's world she would have been raped twice by the same man. The fact she was raped once is bad enough. She stopped him from raping her, and other women. But in DNC's world she would be a criminal.
