Stiff Ukrainian resistance slowing Russian march to Kyiv; Zelenskyy vows to fight

Russian forces have grown increasingly frustrated by Ukrainian resistance, particularly near the capital of Kyiv, and the Russian advance remains about 18 miles from the city, a senior Defense Department official said Saturday.

Russia has, however, sent reconnaissance forces into Kyiv, the official said, declining to say how many of those troops have penetrated the city.

The resistance is stiffening as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday pressed the world to help his country beat back a Russian invasion, even as those forces attacked Kyiv from various directions in an effort to take the capital.

The Pentagon Saturday also announced that $350 in emergency military aid to Ukraine. That package includes Javelin anti-armor missiles, ammunition and body armor, according to the Pofficial.

The Russians halted while Putin addressed the Ukrainian army with an offer of negotiations- without Zelensky.
Now it's back on.

Zelensky has banned males between 18-60 from leaving the country and is forcing weapons onto civilians.
The Ukrainian army has installed heavy weaponry within densely-populated ares of Kiev, Moscow says- with photographic evidence.

My friend said that her family stays in the basement at night. They have seen Russian soldiers in the city. There was a clip on the news last evening showing a Russian tank deliberately going off to the side and crushing a car. Apparently the guy in it survived, miraculously.

I was never in favor previously of NATO membership for Ukraine.

But if they hold out against this onslaught of illegal military aggression, I am going to back their membership in NATO.

Lviv should be heavily fortified before Russia cuts it off from the West.
I'm at a loss of how Kyiv is to get re-supplied.
Planes and Tanks need to be re-painted with a Ukrainian logo and sent into the country.
How many Airfields are still in Ukrainian control?
How many Land routes?

They don't need 'NATO Membership' to be backed and supported by Other Countries.

I don't read Pravda.

Mandatory military conscription is a reasonable expectation when your country is facing an existential threat by military invasion from a much more powerful neighboring state
 
The TV is showing video of Ukrainian civilians being forced to make Molotov cocktails in the streets.
They've been issued with instructions involving a ground polystyrene base for adhesion.

Surely, forcing civilians is a war crime, particularly when they're your own .

Poor Ukrainians. Being "forced" by their own govt. to defend their homes, their homeland, their freedom and their lives from a Russian invasion.
