Kids at Deer Creek School District in Oklahoma seen sucking on toes at ‘fundraiser’

Bottom line is that it would never fly in a district with a more conservative administration and staff. My pointing out that the district was run by liberals was more in response to Zappasguitar’s jab at Oklahoma’s moral, conservative nature…



Republicans are not necessarily “cutting funding.” They are trying to shift it or spread it out to private institutions…which I am adamantly against. So some of the are a big problem when it comes to public education…and when junk like this is allowed to go on in a public school it gives them more ammunition and allows them to paint all public ed with a broad, liberal brush. And the general public here just eats it up.

I’ve spent 37 years pointing out the differences between public schools like Deer Creek and public schools like the one at which I work.

Because a "conservative administration" are all party poopers where children are to be seen and not heard? Where the money raised would be much smaller because kids wouldn't participate? Again, if this was an adult-plan where kids were forced to participate, let the heads roll. However, if this was the kid's idea and it was popular among the student body plus checked for safety and sanity by adults, then why dull the moment? $150K seems pretty good for a small school fundraiser. Results count.

Cutting funding to public schools and giving it to the upper middle class schools is hurting the bottom line in all of our states. Education is the path to the future and I've watched the Republican Party whack away at it as the Evangelistas took over the Republican Party. It benefits the rich and those in power while actively hurting those same parents Katie Britt claimed she was supporting.
