Kids are so cute

With six gun attacks by toddlers on Americans in the last week, the number of deaths and injuries (five deaths, one injury) caused by armed children now exceeds the number of Americans (four) killed in the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

The Census Bureau estimates that there were nearly four million births in 2013, so even accounting for attrition as they blow themselves and each other away, that’s surely a much greater threat than the annual 250,000 Muslim migrants to the USA that has Breitbart freaking out.

This is not about fear-mongering. This is about math.

Toddlers are killing Americans at record rates, and no one is making any effort to stop them.

Just look at the evidence that a deadly armed threat is adorably stomping around in onesies, smiling and drooling, saying “Mama,” and waiting for the chance to kill us and our children, who are often themselves.

In Grout Township, Michigan, Wednesday, a three-year-old boy “found a gun” at his home and it somehow went off. The boy’s father “could face a misdemeanor charge for leaving his gun where his son could get to it.”

In Indianapolis last Wednesday, a two-year-old boy found a .380 semi-automatic pistol in his mother’s purse on a kitchen counter while she wasn’t watching him, and fatally shot himself in the shoulder. Emergency responders were unable to revive the child, who was pronounced dead at a hospital. Happily, the mother had a permit for the gun.

Last Friday in Natchitoches, Louisiana, a three-year-old “found a pistol and accidentally shot himself once in the head,” killing himself immediately. The boy’s mother’s boyfriend was charged with one count of negligent homicide and one count of obstruction of justice after hiding the gun.

Last Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri, a two-year-old girl fatally shot herself in the head with a gun she found while her father and three-year-old brother were asleep. 24-year-old Courtenay Block was charged with second degree murder, first degree endangering the welfare of a minor, neglect of a child resulting in death, and tampering with evidence after he hid the gun in a bathroom floor vent. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, because in Kansas City, the police are thorough.

In Paulding County, Georgia, Tuesday morning, a three-year-old boy found a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol belonging to his father and fatally shot himself in the chest; details on where in the home the gun was located have not been released. No charges have been filed.

In what may be the most spectacular assault by a terrorist child this week, 26-year-old Patrice Price in Milwaukee was shot to death Tuesday by her two-year-old as she was driving a car belonging to her boyfriend, a security guard.

Guess that terrific “Eddie Eagle” safety campaign from the NRA still has a little ways to go.

Still, one must note that really, a few dead kids is nothing compared to the hypothetical need for armed Americans to overthrow a tyrannical government that tries to force us to store our guns safely.

Also, if people really cared about children, they’d ban bedding, plastic bags, and transportation, which kill far more children, so there!

And yet Donald Trump has remained silent on the wave of killings.

Shouldn’t he at least announce a ban on toddlers coming into the country until Congress figures out what the hell is going on?

This is horrible. Think of it, these little kids killed more adults by messing with guns, than were Americans killed by terrorists in Benghazi. But people will call it carelessness or a freak accident. You cannot be too careful with guns in the home. A few years ago the TV show 20/20 did a segment about kids and guns. It was a real eye-opener.

Gun safety should be a much bigger concern than it is.
The more guns there are the more frequent gun accidents will be.

Of course. If a costumed hick, dressed like Cleghorn Leghorn tells a toddler not to pick up something as intriguing as a gun left lying around, the toddler will remember it and comply.

now make a thread about kids falling into pools
By golly you're right. More children die from accidentally falling into pools than from eating kitty liter by far. We should build a wall!

I wish Darla was here to womansplain the joke to you Grind but the OP isn't really about guns. It's about Trumps bigoted rhetoric.

Oh well Tom will like that this little bit of irony went over your head. I know it gave me a chuckle. :)

Last year, a Washington Post analysis found that toddlers were finding guns and shooting people at a rate of about one a week.

This year, that pace has accelerated.

There have been at least 23 toddler-involved shootings since Jan. 1, compared with 18 over the same period last year.

In the vast majority of cases, the children accidentally shoot themselves. That's happened 18 times this year, and in nine of those cases the children died of their wounds.

Toddlers have shot other people five times this year. Two of those cases were fatal: this week's incident in Milwaukee, and that of a 3-year-old Alabama boy who fatally shot his 9-year-old brother in February.

Since April 20, there have been at least seven instances in which a 1- , 2- or 3-year-old shot themselves or somebody else in the United States:

On April 20, a 2-year-old boy in Indiana found the gun his mother left in her purse on the kitchen counter and fatally shot himself.
The next day in Kansas City, Mo., a 1-year-old girl evidently shot and killed herself with her father's gun while he was sleeping.
On April 22, a 3-year-old in Natchitoches, La., fatally shot himself after getting hold of a gun.
On April 26, a 3-year-old boy in Dallas, Ga., fatally shot himself in the chest with a gun he found at home.
On April 27, the Milwaukee toddler fatally shot his mother in the car.
That same day, a 3-year-old boy in Grout Township, Mich., shot himself in the arm with a gun he found at home. He is expected to survive.
On April 29, a 3-year-old girl shot herself in the arm after grabbing a gun in a parked car in Augusta, Ga. She is also expected to survive.

Maybe they need Eddie the Eagle in India:

A teen in India shot and killed himself with his father’s gun while taking a selfie with the weapon. The 15-year-old was reportedly posing with the pistol on Friday when he pulled the trigger.

He was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday afternoon.
