Keith Olbermann suggests 'hope' for Trump's assassination in X post

Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann appeared to "hope" that former President Trump would be assassinated in a recent X post that prompted calls for his banishment from the social media platform.

Olbermann was referring to the Biden-Harris HQ X account flagging a clip of Trump saying he had been persecuted worse than any president in history, including Abraham Lincoln.

"Trump says he has been treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated," the Biden campaign account posted on Saturday.

"There's always the hope," Olbermann wrote, linking to the post.

Olbermann, a far-left personality known for his inflammatory comments, has also recently called for the dissolution of the Supreme Court.

One account that responded to Olbermann's post suggested the commentator's account should be "permanently suspended" for appearing to endorse someone killing Trump, the presumptive nominee for the 2024 Republican nomination. Trump is trying to become only the second president since Grover Cleveland to win another White House term after losing a previous re-election bid.

Wow, IMHO you have some responsibility for what crazies might do if you have a platform like his and wish for violence on another in front of your audience. Even if you wish for just pain, it is IMHO something you may have to face some music for...

Agreed. I just find it interesting that THIS is the call for violence that troubles you.
 
Trump can order his voters and supporters to take a non violence oath



He can clear up his threats by fully denouncing any support of violent acts


Win or lose



He never will

Because he needs the threats and violence

Not the same thing. Context matters. Keith carefully puts his remark in the context of assassination, Trump clearly is speaking of economic and tells them that it would be an economic disaster and that nobody would be able to buy the Chinese cars...

Seriously. If you cannot see the difference here then you are deliberately misleading yourself.

I don't support Trump, but I can understand the difference between using a platform to wish for the actual murder of a specific person and someone talking about an economic disaster and terming it a bloodbath....

Though if crazies did actually start murdering folks if he loses I would definitely point back to "bloodbath" verbiage as something that unhinged idiots may have misconstrued.
