ASHEVILLE, N.C. — An 86-year-old resident will get to vote in North Carolina's March 15 primary but only because her attempt to obtain photo identification earlier this week gained statewide attention, her son said.

On Monday, Reba Miller Bowser tried to get the ID at a North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles office by presenting two birth certificates, a Social Security card, a Medicare card, a cable bill and an apartment lease. DMV officials told her they needed a document that showed she had legally changed her maiden name to her married name, said her son Ed Bowser, who accompanied her.

“Yes, the DMV is bending over backwards in my mother’s individual situation, but if the DMV hadn’t been called to task by the media and there hadn’t been so much outrage and concern, would they be doing it?” Bowser asked.

The question disturbs Bowser, 64, because it raises a concern that many have about North Carolina’s voter ID law: Will people who have a legal right to vote in the state be able to do so in the primary and the general election Nov. 8?

now keep in mind that these laws solve NO existing problem in registration.

they solve no existing problem

hey left leaning posters here.

when will you want to help stop these crimes against democracy?

Looks like they wanted a copy of her marriage license and as we all know, that's just next to impossible to get!! :palm:

I voted this past Tuesday. I showed them my concealed carry card (photo ID) and I voted. Wasn't difficult.

The emphasis should be on voter registration. Once you have proven yourself and gotten registered, then the state needs to publish a list of all valid IDs which can be presented in order to vote. Things like bills and statements are typically used to prove residence for the registration process. Was she registering for the first time?

they solve no existing problem

The problem you post about was caused by the idiots they hire at the DVM....

Nothing exists if you refuse to look for it....

3. How many phantom voters are there in North Carolina?
Somewhere above the 739,041 known missing voters in NC, which is more than 11% of the state's voter rolls. Since the exact number of voters missing but coded as "Active" cannot be known, the exact total number of phantom voters in NC is also unknown.
North Carolina's Board of Elections to blame for this high number? No. Their hands are tied by federal law. This number seems high, since Florida and Virginia have less than 9% of their rolls made up of missing voters; but this is a national epidemic with other states in far worse condition . Indiana has a missing voter rate approaching 16%, but Ohio is the worse we've seen to date, with 18.8% (or 1,445,497 out of 7,703,509) voters missing

Who is to blame for this problem?
The 1993 National Voter Registration Act (or "Motor Voter") created this problem by forcing the states to retain voters for up to eight years after they move from a previous address and by making it very difficult to remove anybody from the rolls. The stated intent of this policy was to avoid disenfranchising anyone by making them re-register if erroneously removed. Before then, states would remove a voter's registration after four years of their not voting.

two birth certificates, a Social Security card, a Medicare card, a cable bill and an apartment lease

so did they ask her for her marriage certificate because she was black or because she wanted to register as a Democrat?.........or was it just because the birth certificate and her apartment lease had different names on them?......

Desh will ignore the reality at all costs.....no proof will ever satisfy her until the DNC tells her otherwise.....

I've shown her Democrats that have been arrested and jailed for voter fraud that she maintains doesn't exist....

Every fraudulent vote nullifies a citizens vote.......one is one too many.

It's been about 18 hours since my post of PROOF she requested about voter fraud and no response from her.

I've posted similar forms of proof to others like her only to be told that those few don't really make that much difference. Seems they believe only those cheating were caught and no one else cheated. They're the kind that think if someone fishing doesn't get a bite every time they throw the hook into the water, there aren't any more fish or the highway patrol catches ever speeder on the road.

why is I ok with you people to cheat voters out of their rights with shitty laws designed to BREAK democracy
