Kagan and Obama...

We dont really know a lot about her position on much. Is she a moderate? A pragmatist?

Is she a liberal, a socialist, or what?

One thing I know is that Obama and her have known eachother for a long time. They both were tenured professors at the University of Chicago in a past life.

Thus far I have liked President Obama's choices for much of what he has done. (Support for expanded offshore oil drilling aside) So here is my position on her.... we never really know what a S. Ct. justice will do once appointed for life....

Some that were to be conservatives have been liberals and vice versa. I hope Kagan is a secret Liberal, and knowing that the President knows her... well that makes me feel hopefull that she will turn out to be one of the Courts liberal greats!

Lets hope!

I think it is likely she is liberal, and that because of that the face of the court will not likely change.

yup, except she is younger.
Couldn't care less. Roberts is also younger than most that were nominated more recently in his position.

The reality is, unless she's found to be in a secret satanic cult or something she'll be in like Flynn and IMO it doesn't really matter all that much as it is unlikely to change the court. Unless she secretly is more like Kennedy than people know.

No my point is that she will likely serve longer... so we exchange an old liberal with a relativly young one....

I don't necessarily believe that age means they will serve longer. Although it seems that most SCOTUS Justices live into their 90s, that doesn't mean any of them are guaranteed that, or even that they may not want to quit sooner.

I belive that it is more likely for a 50 year old to serve longer than a 90 year old.

which will further add to the evidence that you are indeed a fucking retard.

Why? I belive that just because the subject is simular, the conversation can be on different topics and its easier to keep the flow of the conversation if the threads are seperate...

You are the one all upset by it... Chillax candy!

interesting point....too lazy to research it, but I don't think in my lifetime a SC justice has died unexpectedly.......I wonder if it has something to do with the fact they don't actually do much?........

She's too old, Nimrod. He should have nominated a teenager. That would ensure a liberal judge for a longer time period. By your logic, that would have been a better pick.

You are hopeless.... You pretend liberals made arguments they did not and everyone can see through that!

to answer the OP, she's a political hack, government expansion tool, beholden to expanding federal authority despite any constitutional limits. in other words, she's a totalitarian.

How do you figure?

For one thing, a 50 year old's life expectancy is longer. S. Ct. Justice is usually an end of career thing so I suspect if you look into it, 50 year olds on the court serve many more years than 90 year olds.

It would not be rare for a 50 year old to serve 25 years, a 90 year old has never served 25 more years.

So, you're saying that a 90 year old appointee won't live to be 115, which seems like a damn common age to me these days, but since a 50 year old might somehow live to be 75, we should just give it to them? WTF!! That doesn't make any sense at all!!!

No I never said that, and you know it.
