Colin Kaepernick watched "a little bit" of Monday's presidential debate, and he didn't come away impressed with either candidate.

The San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback, who has been kneeling during the national anthem as a form of protest since the preseason, hopes for change with racial inequality in the United States. But Kaepernick doesn't feel either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will assist the movement.

"It was embarrassing to watch that these are our two candidates," Kaepernick told reporters. "Both are proven liars and at this point you have to pick the lesser of two evils. But in the end, it's still evil."

He also spoke out against Trump, whom he called "openly racist" last month. The Republican candidate responded, saying "maybe he should find a country that works better for him."

"It's a very ignorant statement that if you don't agree with what's going on here, if you want justice, liberty and freedom for all, then you should leave the country," Kaepernick said. "He always says 'Make America Great Again.' Well, it's never been great for people of color. That's something that needs to be addressed."

And iirc moderator Lester Holt presented this specific issue for debate.

BUT !!

As this topic is about Kaepernick and not them, may I observe:

Kaepernick's yacht is more spacious than all the private homes within a mile of my home, including mine.
Kaepernick may already have earned more in his young life than most of us posting here will in our entire life.

Thus: ironic Kaepernick would make such issue.

Someone here has a cool sig. that addresses CK's methods. He'll have plenty of time to continue his campaign for change in the near future. I'm sure someone's told him that the 'nets' are buzzing about how he should put up some of that money.

Personally, I see change coming at the state level. Kaepernick should launch a massive get out the vote campaign if he really wanted to see any meaningful return on his investment of time. Sure....this election is indeed a contest between a giant douche, and a turd sandwich. But CK knows which candidate best affords him any chance of success.

He can choose to offer soundbites that get him attention, now that he isn't getting any for his 'on field' contribution. Or...he can choose to support a candidate that will offer a Supreme Court that best represents him.

I'm in favor of Fed. special prosecutors for all police shootings that are suspect. That's the first step toward a fair grand jury.

Past that, this has to be handled at the state/local level. Police have to severely alter their training. I don't know how 4 cops can't overpower one unarmed man?

Change will come when local town/village/county legislators choose to demand change. Vote in those who best represent you.

One thing I have heard repeatedly is "he did everything w/in our department policy/he followed out policy" etc.........

How is it some local police dept or Sheriff is deciding how he/his dept can handle citizens/ppl in this country??
