If Republicans favor offshore drilling, and Liberals don't... why do you suppose Republicans pulled the legislation? Do ya think, it just might possibly be, because with a majority Democrat congress, the legislation would simply be defeated? Once legislation is defeated, it is dead for some period of time, because other legislation is in front of any renewed legislation.

Although it does my heart good to teach pinheads about government, this is not something we should be having to go through at this point in your life. Republicans pulled the legislation, to either tweak it to pass a liberal congress, or they plan to re-introduce it under a more conservative congress, at a later date, OR.... they plan to make it a part of some other popular liberal legislation, like a minimum wage increase, or something. There is an incredible amount of strategy involved in politics, and to just ignorantly presume Republicans killed offshore drilling behind conservatives backs, is beyond pathetic.

That's a nice theory you have, but it's just not rooted in reality. Florida is mostly Democrat, and has been for quite some time. The only way Jeb got elected, is by acting and sounding like a Democrat. Last I checked, Democrats pretty much hated Republicans, and weren't going to support offshore drilling legislation, so how was the US House legislation expected to be perceived by the Floridians? You are essentially saying, Republicans attempted to legislate something the Democrats in Florida vehemently oppose, and then withdrew it to keep them from being pissed off. As if! LOL

Congress is in a short session, which will end before very much more, if any legislation is voted on, and any pending bills will be picked up by the new congress in a few weeks, when they reconvene. the article also said the bill wouldn't pass the senate since curent lame duck rules require 2/3 to pass it. they are going to work it more before trying again.

Well then, it's REALLY funny how Republicans pulled legislation to avoid pissing off Republicans in Florida, isn't it? I mean, you can't really have your cake and eat it too, here. Republicans favor offshore drilling, Democrats oppose it, just take a look at every single vote that has been taken on the measure, and you will clearly see, this is not something Republicans get pissed off about.

You'll notice, I did use the words "I think" in my sentence. This is often done to denote uncertainty, and means that I am unsure of what is being said. I think this makes me right, not wrong. Had I stated that both Florida Senators were Democrats, then you would have proven me to be wrong, but that wasn't what was stated, as you can clearly see. By the way, one is Republican and one is Democrat, so to say Funny how we have a Republican Governor, House and Senate!, is incorrect. The Governor is Republican, but only half of the Senators are, and I have no idea on the house, but I bet they ain't ALL Republican either.
