april 11 2022 Kitco News) - Gold and silver prices are posting moderate gains in early U.S. action Tuesday, in the wake of another U.S. inflation report that ran hot and is being deemed problematic. June gold futures were last up $15.60 at $1,963.50 and May Comex silver was last up $0.308 at $25.31 an ounce.

The just-released U.S. data point of the week saw the consumer price index for March come in at up 8.5%, year-on-year, which is a 40-year high. March CPI was expected to come in at up 8.4%, annually. On Wednesday comes the U.S. producer price index report for March.

Global stocks markets were mixed overnight. The U.S. stock indexes are pointed toward narrowly mixed openings when the New York day session begins. On the Russia invasion of Ukraine front, the U.S. has now warned the war will take a more protracted and bloodier turn. Reports said European countries are now focusing more on arming the Ukrainians and less on adding economic sanctions on Russia.

No reason for right-wingers to stall on infrastructure now. We need it to increase capacity and reduce choke points to help deal with inflationary pressures.

Do you understand what the dems spending plan on "infrastructure" really is?

Upgrading infrastructure should take inflationary pressures into account.
Nope. We spent trillions already. Time to tighten our belts and work on causes of inflation. Fuel costa are up over 40% in the last year. Fuel effects the prices of everything We need to increase the supply of fossil fuels.

I agree to disagree. Increasing capacity is what is going to deal with inflation. Are you for inflation and then complaining about it afterward? I thought only the right-wing did that.

We didn't have runaway before the left began spending too much and cutting energy supplies.

Just turn on the printing presses and spend like there is no tomorrow! Inflation is cause by too much money chasing to few goods and services.

Actually very little is planned for roads and bridges. Trains, charging stations (with no regard as to how to supply the power), trains, and bike lanes.

This inflation was propelled by Russia's attack. Ukraine is a big food supplier for Europe. Russian oil is off many markets. They are big inflationary problems.
I suppose Trump would have had us fighting on Russia's side.

Or we could decrease the useage of fossil fuels. We need automatic license suspension of anyone convicted of DWI or DWT or extreme speeding - say 20 mph over the limit.

What would the right-wing have done? Help Russia win the war on time?
We would have increased fossil fuels to help lessen the world's fuel shortages and we would have finished the XL pipeline by now and that would have helped also. And Trump's response in Syria in killing over 200 Russian mercenaries and missiles attacks for the use of Chemical weapons and Trump's authorization of Javelin missiles would have very likely persuaded Putin that America wasn't weak enough to allow an attack on Ukraine. Biden's debacle in Afghanistan made Putin think American leadership is now weak. Biden not transferring the 29 MIGs proved it. Boris Johnson's visit to Kyiv and Okaying harpoon anti-ship missiles is what a real leader does.

We all knew today’s new Bidenflation numbers were going to be really bad. 8.5 percent inflation over the course of a year is the worst since Jimmy Carter.

Compared to a year ago, you’re paying 48 percent more today for gasoline; 35.3 percent more for a used car; 21.6 percent more for your natural-gas bill; 13.7 percent more for meat, fish, and eggs; 12.5 percent more for a new car; 11.1 percent more for electricity; 10 percent more for food at home; 7.7 percent more for transportation; 6.9 percent more for food away from home; 6.8 percent more for apparel; and 5 percent more for shelter.

Americans aren’t in a bad mood just because gas is much more expensive. They’re in a bad mood because just about everything is more expensive.

Never mind taking steps to alter federal policy to fight inflation; bungling Biden has extraordinary difficulty talking about Bidenflation.

He infamously pledged last July that, “There’s nobody suggesting there’s unchecked inflation on the way — no serious economist.”

In December, bungling Biden assured Americans that they were at “the peak of the crisis. It matters to people when you’re paying more for gas, although in some states we’ve got the price down below three bucks a gallon, but the point is it’s not gone down quickly enough. But I think it will.”

As you have probably noticed, right now, the national average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.09.

In January, bungling Biden boasted that, “We are making progress in slowing the rate of price increases.”

Then in February, bungling Biden grew snippy with NBC News’ Lester Holt, accusing him of being a “wise guy” for quoting bungling Biden’s earlier assurances back to him.

Russia is right. They don't want nukes on their border. Would we let russia put nukes on our border w mexico.?
I wasn't there and don't know enough about the issue.

Right-wingers in the US proclaim their devotion to Capitalism whenever they deny and disparage socialism in those threads.

Why was there any perceived need to put nuke on the border in the first place?

Or we could all just walk.

Stop with the straw men. No one is talking about taking away cars and trucks, just increasing penalties for those that break traffic laws. License suspensions would save gas and lives and money. OTOH you libs want to flat out BAN GUNS except for the police and military of course.
