Why didn't trump walk "peacefully and patriotically" with them to the Capitol rather than running to safety like he did?

Why did he exhort the crowd to "fight like hell" if his intentions were peaceful?

What difference does it make how peacefully they WALKED TO THE CAPITOL if, after they arrived, they became a violent, out of control mob?
