An Evansville man will serve many years behind bars for the 2019 shooting that left one man dead.
Vanderburgh County Circuit Court sentenced 33-year-old Justin Brewer to 85 years in Indiana Department of Corrections following his conviction for the murder of 25-year-old Delvin Mitchell
Brewer will serve 60 years for Murder, 13 years for Firearm Enhancement, and 12 years for Habitual Offender Enhancement.
Brewer and his wife, Amber Brewer, faced charges from the shooting that took place at the 2300 block of Frisse Avenue in January of 2019.
On Thursday, court sentenced Amber Brewer to over 500 days in prison for pleading guilty to assisting a criminal. With time already served, she will spend less than a year more in prison.
"Every agency that assisted in this investigation played an important role in developing key evidence to convince a jusy of Mr. Brewer's guilt," Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Nick Hermann said.
"We sincerely hope the family of Delvin Mitchell feel some sense of justice today knowing the person responsible for this crime will spend decades behind bars."
