An Evansville man will serve many years behind bars for the 2019 shooting that left one man dead.

Vanderburgh County Circuit Court sentenced 33-year-old Justin Brewer to 85 years in Indiana Department of Corrections following his conviction for the murder of 25-year-old Delvin Mitchell

Brewer will serve 60 years for Murder, 13 years for Firearm Enhancement, and 12 years for Habitual Offender Enhancement.

Brewer and his wife, Amber Brewer, faced charges from the shooting that took place at the 2300 block of Frisse Avenue in January of 2019.

On Thursday, court sentenced Amber Brewer to over 500 days in prison for pleading guilty to assisting a criminal. With time already served, she will spend less than a year more in prison.

"Every agency that assisted in this investigation played an important role in developing key evidence to convince a jusy of Mr. Brewer's guilt," Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Nick Hermann said.

"We sincerely hope the family of Delvin Mitchell feel some sense of justice today knowing the person responsible for this crime will spend decades behind bars."

The son of a law enforcement officer has been indicted on an attempted murder charge following a shooting.

A grand jury indicted 27 year old Jordan Hudson on charges that he shot a person in the back with the ‘intent of killing him with malice and aforethought’ after a fight.

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. on August 9th in the 2200 block of North Center Road.

According to booking records, Hudson was released from the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on a $200,000 bond in December.

An Arizona man has been charged with first-degree murder and other crimes in connection with eight shootings that occurred around the Phoenix area Thursday.

The Peoria Police Department said in a press release that officers had arrested 19-year-old Ashin Tricarico as the suspected gunman in the shootings, which killed a 56-year-old man who was found shot in his car.

Police said that several others were injured in the shooting spree, with victims ranging in age from 19 to 56. Authorities said that a 3-year-old child was in one of the vehicles that was shot at, but was not struck by any of the bullets.

In addition to the first-degree murder charge, Tricarico also faces multiple counts of aggravated assault and drive-by shooting, as well as an endangerment charge.

Police said that the man from Surprise, Ariz., was booked into Maricopa County Jail on Friday morning, with an initial court appearance scheduled for June 24, according to jail records.

The department said in its statement that detectives were still “sorting through evidence to determine exactly what occurred,” adding that a motive is “still unknown.”

State and federal investigators are also assisting in the case, police said.

The double-murder suspect who is acting as his own attorney rested his case Friday without taking the stand in his own defense.

On the last day of testimony in the murder trial of Ronnie Oneal, prosecutors called Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office lead detective Tom Dirks. He remembered showing up at the crime scene in Riverview and seeing Oneal with blood stains on his clothes and smelling like gasoline.

During Dirks’ testimony, they played a 911 call that Oneal had made the night of the murders.

"I’ve just been attacked! Kee Kee tried to kill me!" Oneal screamed to the dispatcher.

Oneal is charged with the murder of his girlfriend and mother of this children, Kenyatta Barron, and his 9-year-old disabled daughter, Ron'niveya, back in 2018. He’s also accused of attempting to kill his 8-year-old son, also named Ronnie.

Prosecutors say he then tried to set the house on fire.

Oneal rested his case without taking the stand in his own defense. Hoping to avoid what happened during opening statements, Hillsborough Circuit judge Michelle Sisco warned him to keep religion and God out of trial.

"This jury is not going to make a factual determination as far as what side God is on," explained Sisco.

The jury was sent home early Friday as the lawyers finalized the jury instructions. Closing arguments are Monday morning and the jury was told to bring an overnight bag just in case they are sequestered during deliberations.

A man arrested after he allegedly stabbed a 94-year-old Asian American woman in San Francisco in an unprovoked attack has been charged with attempted murder.

San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin said 35-year-old Daniel Cauich was also charged with battery causing serious bodily injury and elder abuse.

Cauich’s arraignment was Friday.

Officials say Ahn “Peng” Taylor was walking near her apartment Wednesday when Cauich allegedly approached her and stabbed her on her forearm, hip and torso.

He then continued walking and threw away the knife.

A 24-year-old man was arrested Friday in Eugene by US Marshals and charged with the November 2019 murder of Thomas Osborn in Portland.

Osborn, 48, was shot to death while he sat in his car on NE Broadway at 19th Avenue. Over time, investigators identified Tyreik D. Credit as the suspect in the shooting.

After a warrant was issued, US Marshals found Credit and arrested him in Eugene. He was booked into the Lane County Jail and will be sent to Multnomah County soon.

Credit is facing a total 5 charges: 2nd-degree murder, being a felon in possession of a gun and tampering with a witness.

A man accused of fatally shooting a person while he was “high on acid” late last year has been formally charged.

The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that Imond Martise Woods, 22, has been indicted for murder, a first-degree felony, in the death of DeShaun Adriel Moorer.

The indictment alleges that on Dec. 27, 2020, Woods “intentionally and knowingly caused the death of Moorer by shooting him with a deadly weapon (firearm).”

The incident happened at a Northeast Side apartment complex in the 13100 block of E. Loop 1604 N., near Pat Booker Road.

According to an arrest affidavit, a witness called the police after he heard gunshots and found an injured man lying on the floor inside an apartment unit. The man, Moorer, had been shot in the chest, police said.

Moorer was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he died just one day later.

The witness told police that he heard yelling in the unit before a gunshot was fired. The witness said he did not see anyone leave the apartment.

Moorer was the only person inside the unit, police said. Near him, officers found a Taurus 9mm handgun, along with a spent 9mm casing and a live 9mm bullet.

A teen accused of murdering a man last week is now facing weapons charges.

Edward Stokes, 17, is facing three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to arrest warrants.

Stokes was already facing charges of murder and armed robbery.

Warrants accuse Stokes of stealing $4,600 from 34-year-old Alexander “Cody” Presley on June 9. He’s accused of then shooting and killing Presley.

A 13-year-old accomplice confessed his role to deputies and claimed Stokes was the shooter.

An 18-year-old is in custody in connection with the carjacking and shooting death of a man in Fairfield.

Joydan Ja’Niece Blackwell was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 1:03 a.m. Friday. She is charged with capital murder in the slaying of 27-year-old Jon Paul Matthew Kimber.

Blackwell is also charged with first-degree theft of property, first-degree shooting into an occupied vehicle and first-degree robbery. Other charges are expected.

Kimber was found slain shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday at Gary Avenue and 49th Street in downtown Fairfield. A passerby discovered Kimber unresponsive in an area between Payless Drugs and another building. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Blackwell and the other unnamed suspects are accused of trying to rob Kimber of his vehicle. When he fought back, he was shot multiple times. His car was then stolen.

After threatening her for a week a man laid in wait for the mother of his two children and then shot and killed her outside a DeFuniak Springs home, police said Friday.

Kaylee Schipper, 28, was killed by 41-year-old Brian Laird Wednesday night, according to the DeFuniak Springs Police Departemt.

He was arrested Friday in Geneva County, Alabama, and is charged with murder, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Laird’s nephew, Trevon Randolph, 20, is charged with principal to murder. Investigators said Randolph drove Laird to the scene of the crime even though he knew that Laird planned to shoot Schipper and that Laird had a gun.

During a Friday night news conference, City Marshal James Hurley noted that violence is rare in the city of DeFuniak Springs. He said the small town only sees a murder about once every few years.

An Oahu grand jury has indicted a man in connection to a murder that happened in the 80s.

Thomas Garner was indicted on suspicion of second-degree murder on Friday, June 18, for the death of Kathy Hicks in 1982.

Hicks was strangled to death, her body was dumped. She had come to Oahu from Georgia to participate in a work event.

The case went unsolved for more than three decades. Police got a huge break when Garner was arrested for killing a woman in Florid and his DNA matched the Kathy Hicks murder.

Baltimore Police have charged 38-year-old Kevin Dudley in the murder of a missing 18-year-old, Kozee Spriggs.

Spriggs’ decomposing body was found in the 1300 block of Ensor Street around 7:17 a.m. on June 15. A medical examiner determined the cause of death to be a homicide.

She was reported missing on June 8, Baltimore Police confirm.

SWAT officers located Dudley at his home in the 1300 block of Glyndon Avenue in Baltimore on June 17 and took him to be interviewed by homicide investigators. He was then booked and charged with first- and second-degree murder.

It’s the third body found this week.

A man’s body was found near Leakin Park Friday morning.

The body of another man was found in East Baltimore on Sunday afternoon.

Nearly six years after a teenager was gunned down in his south Muncie home, a local man was found guilty Friday of related murder and robbery charges.

A Delaware Circuit Court 1 jury deliberated for about six hours before returning the guilty verdicts early Friday evening in the case of 22-year-old William C. Balfour III.

The charges stemmed from an attempted robbery — on July 2, 2015 — in the West 23rd Street home of Christian Michael Orebaugh.

Orebaugh, 18, died after being shot in the back.

Judge Marianne Vorhees set Balfour's sentencing hearing for July 16.

A 20-year-old Crystal man jailed in Scott County this month on charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder became the fourth suspect arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Savage.

Police say a man sustained serious injuries after being robbed and severely beaten outside the Quality Inn hotel in Savage on Feb. 17.

In March, authorities arrested Stonii Jream Allen, 19, of Minneapolis in connection with the case.

Allen faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree aggravated robbery and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in Scott County District Court.

He's since been released from jail after posting $250,000 bond and awaits a hearing in Scott County District Court on July 8.

However, authorities allege Allen didn't act alone in beating a stranger outside the hotel in February.

Tyler Glenn Graham, 25, of Eden Prairie, Steven Cordell Graham, 26, of Burnsville and Dorian Michael Ware, 20, of Crystal were also each charged in Scott County District Court with aiding and abetting attempted second-degree murder and aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery.

The three additional suspects are now all in custody at the Scott County Jail after nationwide warrants were issued for their arrests.

Prosecutors have charged the owner of a gun found in a Topeka home by toddlers, who then accidentally shot a 13-year-old girl.

Dejuan Thomas Yelverton, 22, Topeka, was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child endangerment and criminal possession of a gun by a felon, according to Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay.

Yelverton owned the gun that was found by toddlers Saturday morning. As the children were handling the gun, it fired, hitting 13-year-old DaMya Hudnall in the back of the head. DaMay was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

She died after being taken off life support.

A Dayton man who took the stand in his own defense was convicted Friday of murder and other charges by a jury.

Carson Barker, 35, was convicted in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on murder, felonious assault and discharging a weapon near a prohibited premise. A jury also found Barker not guilty on two tampering with evidence charges.

He claimed he was acting in self-defense when he shot and killed Christopher Campbell, 42, on May 26, 2019.

Barker shot Campbell near West Second and North Antioch streets. Campbell was able to drive away from the scene before crashing into a playground. He died the next day.
