Justice Department Brings Federal Criminal Charges Against Derek Chauvin

It's not over yet for Derek Chauvin?

The Justice Department has filed federal criminal charges against Derek Chauvin, accusing the former police officer of using excessive force and violating the civil rights of George Floyd. Floyd died after Chauvin pressed on his neck for more than nine minutes on the pavement outside a convenience store last year in Minneapolis.

Three other former officers on the scene that day — Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao — have been charged federally in connection with Floyd's death. Two of the men, Kueng and Thao, are accused of failing to intervene to stop Chauvin. All three face a charge of failing to provide medical care with "deliberate indifference" to Floyd's suffering. They already are preparing for a state trial in August.

Chauvin also faces a separate federal indictment related to a 2017 incident where he allegedly used a neck restraint "without legal justification" on a 14-year-old and beat the teenager in the head with a flashlight.

Federal civil rights prosecutors from Washington worked hand in hand with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota to build the case.

I'm glad Trump and Barr, are no longer in office, else this would not happen?!!

So you don't believe in rehabilitation, huh? I guess every criminal should get a long sentence, huh? Or is that attitude only relevant when there's a political agenda to be pushed?

Do you suppose that you can rehabilitate George Floyd??????????????????

22 1/2 years!

Good ole boy sentencing, realizing the murderous creature Chauvin deserved a lot longer than 22.5 years when there are them sitting in prison for this many years and more over petty marijuana convictions in particular. The murderous Chauvin savage probably would have been acquitted if this were not a high profile case. Just goes to show the tainted nature of so-called justice when there are judges who discount someone's life in order to give killer cops some type of good ole boy privilege, which is also a miscarriage and travesty of justice. Even with this 22.5 year sentence it would have some merit if the bastard Chauvin is required to serve the 22.5 years with no parole and preferably in solitary confinement, which I suspect the good ole boy system will kick in again and let the bastard off in far less than 22.5 years. Hopefully pending federal cases against the savage Chauvin will ensure the punishment fits the crime as in no good ole boy treatment, which should add a substantial amount of time beyond this ridiculous 22.5 year state sentence when it should have been 25 years to life.
