Judge in Michael Brown case FORCED to release settlement figure - $1.5 million

Yeah, the cop fucked up major league. Ran the kid down when he was no longer an imminent threat. 50+ yards. And then unloaded his magazine in him. Bad cop. Lousy training.

sorry that's not true at all. Brown was charging at him and had tried to take his gun. this is all explained in the DOJ report.

time for my famous copy pasta

In addition to all of the facts exonerating Police Officer Wilson, In addition to a grand jury refusing to indict, I would also like to remind you that there was an independent, federal investigation by the Eric Holder led Department of Justice.

Their conclusions were as follows:

Fact 1: "Darren Wilson's actions do not constitute prosecutable violations":

Fact 2: "The evidence, when viewed as a whole, does not support the conclusion that Wilson use of deadly force were objectively unreasonable
(see above screenshot)

Fact 3: Michael Brown likely did reach into Wilson’s vehicle and grab the officer(from the report):

"Brown [reaching into SUV] is corroborated by bruising on Wilson's jaw and scratches on his neck, the presence of Browns' DNA on Wilson's collar, shirt, and pants, and Wilson's DNA on Brown's palm"

Fact 4:
"Michael Brown did double back toward Darren Wilson "

Fact 5: The witnesses that were against Wilson had testimony that was "inconsistent with the physical and forensic evidence"

“Wilson attempted to open the driver’s door of the SUV to exit his vehicle, but as he swung it open, the door came into contact with Brown’s body and either rebounded closed or Brown pushed it closed. Wilson and other witnesses stated that Brown then reached into the SUV through the open driver’s window and punched and grabbed Wilson. This is corroborated by bruising on Wilson’s jaw and scratches on his neck, the presence of Brown’s DNA on Wilson’s collar, shirt, and pants, and Wilson’s DNA on Brown’s palm. While there are other individuals who stated that Wilson reached out of the SUV and grabbed Brown by the neck, prosecutors could not credit their accounts because they were inconsistent with physical and forensic evidence..”

That's what I don't get.

If the police weren't culpable, on what legal basis is the city required to cough up 1.5 million for Brown's death?

criminal versus civil.....different standards, different burdens of proof......"beyond a reasonable doubt" instead of "more likely than not"........
